I know damn all about plastering so while I am sorry about your loss, and hope the thieves are soon caught, why are the trowels irreplaceable (especially if not expensive)?

Same as a snooker cue or golf club I would imagine, they feel right.

Did you have a DAB or FM device, and what did it look like?
A guy down the pub said last time he saw my wife he'd left looking like a plasterer's radio, I'm still not sure what he meant.

Feel for you conditor, tools are sacred. I have a phillips ratchet screwdriver from the day i finished my apprenticeship 28 years ago and it is still going strong.

The latest advice from insurance companies is to have all plastering gear fitted with GPS microchips.
That way, you can track it all the way to Loadsamoney's garden shed.

But seriously, what is the likelihood that this opportunistic thief is a plasterer?
Did somebody nick the gear simply because they knew it would cause an inconvenience to the owner?

Probably end up getting fly-tipped once the thief's found a rural beauty spot.

A family friend had her phone stolen.  Managed to track it down to a house, told the police but they weren't interested.

I’m in Derby ,the job was in Tutbury staffs.

Speaking as a homeowner in the SW, I would have budgeted four or five hundred quid for that job, while hoping to get it done for three or four.

Don't know how anyone could be making a living doing it for two (unless they're "borrowing" the equipment, I suppose).

I vaguely know Tutbury, from the route to Uttoxeter races. It's the sort of place where the only crime you'd expect to see would be a middle-class, DCI Barnaby-style murder. If you can't leave your van unlocked there, where can you?

Whatever happened to the Chit Chat Detective Agency?  In the old days the case would have been solved within the day.

Clearly there is a criminal gang involving the girl, her father and, possibly, his mate.

I agree with Hacksaw.

How else can you make a living doing the job for £200, unless you're not having to pay for the equipment?

That's nothing I once mowed half the lawn on my mams front garden  on our council estate .I only mowed half because I get tired very easily and was going to mow the other half the next day.when we got up someone had stolen the half that had been mowed and left the other half that hadn't

My mam told me then to mow the lawn that had been left .I told her straight no I'm not they will come back for it if I mow it
