Sri Lanka being a major producer of bananas.

Maybe , but your comment clearly has racist undertones which have no place on a public forum. Cut it out , please mouse .

Personally I would stop them. Sadly there are tragedies in the world every day - leave it to sport specific events. Minutes silence for a footballer at a football match, same at rugby etc.

I agree with Hank.

Shouldn't have had one for NZ. It creates a precedent and, as in this case, resentment when a similar tragedy is ignored. It looks like a snub.

Yes same as me Mac, I totally agree with Hank as well.

When I was a kid, a minute's silence (and it was silence, not applause) and the wearing of black armbands was a big thing.  It seems to happen all the time now and has lost its impact.

I agree with Hank Hill sport should stick to mourning sports people we have lost...

Anything else is getting football or sport involved with politics, it is too complicated.

Why New Zealand and not Sri Lanka.
Probably because NZ is in the Commonwealth and SL is not.
Reynard as a Rangers man I would hope so.

I think Zimbabwe is the only ex-empire one that's dropped out. There aren't many anyway.
