lol @ people who instantly have to bring up Lee Rigby, or another name that is going to be in this thread very shortly, every time there is a mention of Stephen Lawrence

Definition of 'instantly' required

glad that was the point of contention in my post

Didn't read all of your post . Just got as far as the word 'instantly' (for which you have no definition) and stopped

Is it becoz he is black?

Aaron nails it.

What's so special about this particular murder? Aren't all murders sad and tragic for those left behind?

Racist thread.

Thread title misses the St. bit.

Richie - just because mouse mentioned colour doesn't necessarily follow that the rest of us are racist .

Have I fallen into a cunning trap?

Mouse trap thread.

mouse - I think Richie is trying to imply that he isn't the only racist on chit chat

Unsurprisingly the lefties miss the point of Reynards post.
By:
The calendar on this machine simply says Easter Monday, Today all day, so I doubt that either Lawrence day or Rigby day are official. What is Reynard's point?
By:
Article on the BBC news site headed:
Stephen Lawrence Day: Doreen Lawrence calls for schools to tackle racism Hope that helps you understand mouse. |
By:
… also articles in various newspapers headed Stephen Lawrence Day.
By:
The Rigby family would be entitled to do the same and speak out against terrorism.
By:
The Lawrence Day story isn't currently on the BBC news homepage, so they must have demoted the story fairly quickly. What would their motive be for doing that?

The Lawrence Day story isn't currently on the BBC news homepage, so they must have demoted the story fairly quickly. What would their motive be for doing that? They've logged onto Chit Chat and have been shamed into it ![]() |
By:
I see, so for balance they will now have to give only a brief mention to Rigby next month.

The Rigby family would be entitled to do the same and speak out against terrorism. Lee Rigby's mother is still waiting to be made a Baroness .......................... |
By:
That said , if every mother who has to bury a child as a result of violence was made a Baroness London would be awash with ermine

I couldn't comment on whether Doreen's baronesscy (? help me out, I know the M equivalent is baronetcy) is deserved or not (the honours system as a whole being somewhat baffling to me) but has there been any suggestion than Mrs Rigby is expectant of the same honour?
By:
It's baronetess.
By:
Mouse what is your point?
You're all over the place. And do you now see the point of the OP. |
By:
To the best of my knowledge , mouse , No

By:
Not even a bench with a brass plate to commemorate the spot where he was slain

By:
Mouse what is your point?
I'm not making points or grinding axes, merely trying to establish the OP's point. |
By:
My point is : that as tragic and wicked was the murder of Stephen Lawrence by a gang of racist thugs , the slaughter of a young man who served his country , by two crazed b*stards in broad daylight goes virtually unrecognised .
Whilst I wouldn't wish for Stephen Lawrences memory to fade into obscurity and fully acknowledge his right to a memorial , it would appear that the state is perfectly content (possibly would prefer) for Lee Rigby to be forgotten as quickly as possible . For what reason exactly and who does this benefit ? ![]() |
By:
I don't think people have forgotten the Rigby murder at all. I would see the murder of Lawrence as more historically significant because of the investigation it launched into institutional racism in the met.
By:
Yeah , the acquittal was a massive miscarriage of justice . Maybe people haven't forgotten the murder of Lee Rigby , but there is no memorial of any description to commemorate him .
By:
To be perfectly honest, I'd never thought to compare the two until I opened this thread, but I will now stand by my assertion that the SL murder was the more historically significant.
By:
Kriss Donald was a 15 yo lad abucted and murdered by 5 men described as of Pakistan origin.
The circumstances of his death are horrendous and I'll leave you to hear it for yourself on this vid. The worst racist crime on an individual I've ever heard about but swept into the past by the media. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ijELRK1qPg |
By:
Possibly , but the murder of Lee Rigby was much more public as it occurred in broad daylight and the images captured that day are very chilling .
By:
Well he's me trying to get me head round comparing apples with oranges and aka goes and chucks in a banana
![]() |
By:
akabula , the Kris Donald murder was truly horrific , the violence and the torture , but it's another example of a crime that the state wish to remove from the records (if it wasn't for the internet very few would have heard of it or have access to the details) .
By:
All three murders were horrendous but the Kriss Donald murder is rarely ever mentioned by the media.
