During the ongoing renovations, which wealthy individuals would step forward to make sizeable donations to fund its reconstruction?

I've often pondered as to what would happen, if an audacious attack was made, on the lines of "The Twin Towers"!

Lets say they wiped out "The Elizabeth Tower" (Big Ben)there is no way in the world that it could be rebuilt, regardless of cost!

The level of detail is off the scale, and it's astonishing that it was built in the first place!

Where would we find even one individual, with the level of skill who, in any case, would be dead long before it could be finished?

The only possibility would be, if there are CNC machines, but what a hell of a task!

Apparently, there is a video game that depicts 18th century Paris, including Notre Dame in incredible "stone by stone" detail.
One of the developer was quoted as having spent two years on the fine details, and it is believed that there data will be used during the reconstruction.

Westminster requires huge amounts of money to be spent to bring it up to modern standards.
Why not spend that money on a new building far, far away from London as part of a deliberate process to change the manner in which politics if played out in this country.

I would think that the only way forward, would be to reduce back to non damage, and then to build a modern, all bronze glazing alternative!

Joe Taxpayer would of course step up to the plate.Westminster is the finest club
in Britain,Birmingham is unlikey to appeal as an alternate venue.

Re the "Houses of Parliament", it would be the same sources that fund important listed Grade 1* Victorian buildings and others.  St Pancras Station and the Midland Hotel got done, thank god, and the Palace of Westminster would be the same. Apologies that this isn't as complicated as you thought it was. Devil

Really?

Construction starts. The construction of the new Palace began in 1840. While Barry estimated a construction time of six years, at an estimated cost of £724,986, the project in fact took more than 30 years, at a cost of over £2 million

How can you possibly compare "The Midland Hotel" to "The Palace Of Westminster"?
Report Angoose April 17, 2019 5:37 PM BST
The Midland Hotel was allegedly coveted by Adolf Hitler, who maintained a keen interest in architecture, as a possible Nazi headquarters in Britain. American intelligence speculated that the area of Manchester around the town hall was spared from bombing so as not to damage or destroy the Midland Hotel. Surprised

You have a point but, its pretty much being rebuilt as we speak, and virtually every part can be replicated. You mention Barry (Sir Charles) in a previous post. As he was finalising designs for the Palace of Westminster, he struggled with the design for the "Elizabeth Tower". He had a word with Pugin who had already designed virtually the whole of the interior in every detail, The two great architects sat down together and Pugin sketched out the "big ben" tower in some detail in little more than an hour. What you see today, or you will soon is almost entirely the work of AWN Pugin and not Barry.
