I agree that many people claim to be proud of their heritage and yet they have done nothing to shape their particular history . Yet we have so many claiming Black pride , Gay pride etc that it's become some sort of badge .
I suppose people should be proud of what they have become rather than be proud of what they were at birth . Maybe 'thankful' would be a better word than 'proud' .

When THEY take over Britain and enslave you (30 years by some estimates), then you can claim to be proud of being British as a mark of defiance.

To be fair

In the past Black people and Gay people may have felt unfairly victimised...and made to feel if their worth was worth less than white

heterosexual people...so this is their response

Now we are trying to remove discrimination and see everybody the same regardless of sex, colour or sexual inclination then we are

much more the same and can compete equally.

But people always deserve credit for achievement, Sterling should be proud of his football ability.
