General Election in UK..

As a Irish observer of the mess taking place over there, can I asked the question, if a General Election was help soon would the people who voted to leave bring down the Government, feeling betrayed and disappointed. The reason I ask is we had a  Political Party over here ,now back in power I might add. Who passed a motion to tax Children's shoes in the 1980s and were cast into the wilderness for many years, could the same happen to the Tories ?.
