I prefer older films , personally . Plenty from the 70's / 80's that I have yet to see .
I watched one last night from 1983 - Corruption (also listed as 'Order Of Death' or 'Copkiller') . 8/10 ![]() |

I tell you a good recent movie, you might not have seen it, Four Billboards Outside Ebbing Missouri - it's better than it sounds, it won an Oscar or two

I went to London last week and wasn't that well so spent the time crawling to cinemas near tube stations.
Everybody Knows is a decent low-key character-driven thriller ( in Spanish ) Us I thought was just a silly over-hyped horror film. I was hoping for something better. The Highwaymen I saw in the cinema but it's already on Netflix,is an evocative if rather slow period piece. Ben is Back is well-made and well-acted but felt somewhat inauthentic and contrived. Under The Silver Lake is weird. Pretentious or over-ambitious to be kind. |

Three Billboards -- another vote.
Bohemian Rhapsody -- a great feelgood film. A Star is Born -- the newer Lady Gaga version. |
By:
Three Billboards is one of my favourite films, another 10/10 job.
By:
Three Billboards is a must see Movie.

By:
I really enjoyed the Favourite - usually hate period drama but this was really good
By:
Agree entirely with 3 billboards.
By:
The best thing about Bohemian Rhapsody is listening to two or three Queen songs. Absolute classics. The worst thing is having to suffer through their endless parade of horribly shyte songs particularly but not exclusively from the 80s that are so insufferable combined with their awful pretentiousness that makes you just want to kill yourself. I give it ONE star.

have to admit, if i didn't know better, i thought it was another Spinal Tap

I watched 'The Highwaymen' on Netflix last night (released 2 days ago) and it wasn't bad to be fair. It's the story of the Texas Rangers who set out to capture/kill Bonnie & Clyde with Costner & Harrelson in the lead roles. I quite enjoyed watching the tale from the other side of the fence.
Tonight I'm going to try out 'Triple Frontier' (also on Netflix), but first the nail-biting Liverpool v Spurs |

Not recent, recent, but The Imitation Game is a film that stands many viewings.
By:
Similar to 'A Beautiful Mind' Angoose, both very good watchable movies.
By:
Indeed.
Can also throw Moneyball in to the mix, another film that can be watched many times. |
By:
Three Billboards very good
Green Book the best film ive seen in years |
By:
I may well be swimming against the tide here but I've never liked Queen's music, never bought any of their records and it would be my idea of cinematic hell to watch 'Bohemian Rhapsody' but that's just me, each to their own of course.
By:
Aspro thanks for the heads up on The Highwaymen.....Wow what a shocker probably one of the worst Movies I have seen in the last ten years....Shame.great actors but pure garbage I would probably blame the director.

Football factory is very funny as well because as daft as it may seem it's exactly what these sort of people are like which makes it even funnier..

Ramrunas third choice A Star Is Born is a must watch
Go watch it Giggsy - it might bring out some humility in you ![]() ![]() ![]() |
By:
And more importantly go enjoy the music hth

By:
@SlippyBlue -- you do not have to be a fan of Queen to enjoy Bohemian Rhapsody. I've got none of their albums. In fact it might even be better as you can enjoy it as an upbeat, feelgood movie rather than being distracted by minor historical errors.

I enjoyed BlacKKKlansman more than Green Book and Bohemian Rhapsody (which whilst a feel good film and the re-enactment of Live Aid is good - is actually pretty rotten with a lame script and rotten acting except for Rami Malek, who should have won an oscar for best lookalikey).
By:
A Star Is Born was really very was good. Top acting by both leading actors.
Another film I enjoyed and will get slated for is Walk Like A Panther. Great fun. A group of 1980s wrestlers are forced to don the lycra once last time when their beloved local pub is threatened with closure. |
