.....or not.

His big gob resulted in a reduction in donation from the public (allegedly). Will he have a whip round from his mates to make up the difference? Or a sponsorship into how much weight he'll lose in 2019? Let's hope so otherwise he needs to keep his gob shut or thinks before he opens it.

Isn't there a case for the more you give the less people will learn to fend for themselves?

My experience is the only projects that work are ones where the local people have to do something rather than just wait for handouts.

ah The Tory view on this   from Insider Trader

There are always people in our society who for one for one reason or another cannot compete as well as others

It is ok to help them to stop actual suffering.

Although we cannot be too generous of course, people are expected to work

Providing there the jobs and they are able  of course

just my own opinion

Like many others I'm sure, I refused to donate this year, given Comic Relief's truly pitiful and wholly inadequate response to Lammy's disgraceful "White Saviours" remarks.

He (and more alarmingly Comic Relief) appear to have forgotten exactly which community has bankrolled their charity this last 30 years or so.

This is the same man so intent on looking for racism that he tweeted about the white smoke from the Vatican chimney being racist.

Rather than even google it, he couldn't wait to make a total @rse of himself on twitter.

Sums up a lot of the political class today (all flavours) - can't wait to fire off their 140 characters of predetermined, agenda laden drivel before finding out the facts.

Water Aid and other charities advertise on my tellybox. All the

They ask for donations for Africa communities to have clean water. I used to help a charity called Pump Aid who are similar but use ancient Chinese technology.

Why is that Africa (black people Mr Lammy...) need money from other cultures (including white people Mr Lammy..) to pay for wells in 2019???

Wells were dug in Britain and elsewhere up to 8000 years ago!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Report impossible123 March 20, 2019 12:26 AM GMT
I wonder if Mr Lammy is happy and/or grateful to what the Chinese are doing in some African countries eg helping to build and paying for infrastructures in return for natural commodities?; he does have a chip on his shoulder.

It's such a shame the quality and intelligence of some present British MPs have fallen to a level not acceptable and conducive for public office.
Report Pokermonster March 20, 2019 12:30 AM GMT
Not only does David Lammy often display a shocking lack of intelligence, he is also quite clearly a racist.
Report Hanx March 20, 2019 12:36 PM GMT
I've heard him and his unthinking acolytes telling me to 'Check my privilege', so I did and you know what it said?

"You had the unearned privilege of being dealt a good hand of cards. That involves responsibilities you shouldn't abuse. You should be willing to be held to account for your views and prepared to defend them politely even under abuse (Jacob Rees Mogg is a good example of grace under pressure). But above all you MUST defend them otherwise the barbarians have stormed the gate. The difficult part is to throw aside faux chivalry and robustly call out corrupt, thick, self-indulgent special pleading and victimhood, masquerading as equality and anti-racism"
Report Just Checking March 20, 2019 1:10 PM GMT
Lammy said a white middle class man shouldn't be in charge of the grenfell inquiry. How can anyone listen to that and NOT conclude that is indicating racism - it is expressing a choice as to whether someone should be in a role dependent on race. It's virtually a definition of racism. And class war. If a Tory MP had said a "black lower class man” shouldn't be in charge of any inquiry Lammy would have been first to scream the place down. As ever, double standards prevail.
Report Dr Crippen March 20, 2019 1:15 PM GMT
Same with the people who promote the idea of more black police officers.

What do they think is wrong with white police officers who have served their communities for centuries?
Report Dr Crippen March 20, 2019 1:17 PM GMT
Are they suggesting that the people who are being policed are racist?

I was very surprised to read he actually completed university, everything he's ever said is so amazingly STUPID I'd assumed he'd went straight from school to some pointless thicko trade union position then into parliament, like so many of them.

I know little about politicians other than not to believe em, but I was intrigued enough to look up his Grenfell quote wondering whether he qualified his assertion.

He did. He said it was a "shame" that a female or an ethnic minority judge had not been selected to lead the inquiry.

White man = bad, non white man or any woman = good. How did he get away with this?

Re Grenfell

David Lammy objected to Sir Martin Moore-Bick chairing the enquiry on the grounds that he is white, male and has never spent a night on the twentieth floor of a tower block. His colleague Emma Dent Coad seems to doubt that Sir Martin is even human, judging by her entirely groundless presumption that he has neither “empathy” nor “an ability to understand human beings.”

My own preference is to assess people according to their knowledge, skill, impartiality and fairness rather than on what their skin colour happens to be, what genitals they happen to have or whether or not they’re a “toff,” and I speak as someone born into the working class these two virtue-signalling MPs claim to represent in order to promote their own right-on credentials.

I think we’d get further with a judicious and truthful assessment of the facts, not displays of “empathy”, which I believe is a singularly dangerous emotion.

If you “empathise” with a “victim”, you’re inclined to become mercilessly violent toward those you believe to be “perpetrators” and pre-emptively deadened to evidence that contradicts your virtuous emoting.
Report impossible123 March 20, 2019 5:10 PM GMT
It is incredibly sad and at times shameful political correctness has been frequently used (injudiciously) by politicians mainly of ethnic origin as an excuse when speaking about inequalities in society, and/or after a misfortune or tragic event. And, gone are the days when the best and appropriate individuals appointed regardless of race, colour, gender or creed.

Political Correctness is a cheap and easily accessible weapon used by individuals in privileged position in politics, but unqualified in other field or profession - the result being little positivity achieved, and message lost in the process.

Next time maybe someone if meeting Mr Lammy could ask him whether he agrees that testimonies of people can be legally accepted as evidence in the Court of Law.

Playing politics after a disaster like the Grenfell Tower fire where many perished must be the lowest of the low by any politician. I do not understand why Mr Lammy is invited on the media for his thoughts as his thoughts could be immature, ill-informed/conceived and inaccurate; empty vessels make the most noise!
Report Hanx March 21, 2019 10:36 AM GMT
I'd say he gets an easy ride because he presents as an 'intellectual', intoning words very carefully and slowly (but not tippling over into Diane Abbott territiry where it sounds like she's forgotten what she's about to say), throwing in the odd bt of grandeloquence and sounding plausibly passionate about whatever he's on about.

In fact, he routinely gets up in the House of Commons, decries the British voting public as morons led astray by racists - and then asks why we can’t be more united!

MP Lammy could make himself useful and redeem his recently tarnished reputation (and misjudgement) by doing something decent for a charity that could float his boat eg help to raise funds for people affected in Mozambique and Zimbabwe by Cyclone Idai; the donations of the Queen and Prince Charles will not initiate another outlandish outburst, surely.
Report impossible123 March 24, 2019 10:29 PM GMT
Has anyone seen the new advert by McDonald where an ethnic minority entered a large plush interview room only to be greeted by a familiar white face lady sitting behind a large desk someone he'd probably served earlier? I wonder what MP Lammy would think of that.
