apparently all you have to say is you don't watch live telly  - and you can even ask for a refund if you say you haven't done so for x amount of time

Cancelled mine 3 weeks ago. Quite funny giving them the run around since!

Ask to meet with a senior editor to discuss editorial policy. Like nearly all large companies, the bosses hide and fob you off with an intern.

Told them I weren't paying since that Alan Partridge come back.

Haven't had a TV licence since 2011 . I've lost count of the threatening letters but have yet to receive a threatening visit Devil

Seems a simple procedure. If they turn up without a warrant you don't have to speak to them, if they have a warrant you let them in.
Report Injera March 18, 2019 6:33 PM GMT
saddo - just say you will film them whilst they're on your property. They tend to walk so I hear.

This is how the war will begin.

There are untold amounts of links on youtube about this. Just say "your right of access to this property has been denied", record them on your phone and they soon skulk off. (I have got a tv licence by the way but it's easily avoidable by all accounts.)

my mum cancelled her tv license because she doesn't watch live tv, she only watches netflix which she does, but she said they put a lock on her accessing live tv channels, don't know how they did that.

They can't and they didn't, she's just your old mum, I got mine the internet a few years back, and god the rubbish she comes out with Cry

Haven't paid it for years.

Must have received two-hundred plus letters on a perpetual cycle. They begin with quite courteous requests for payment and gradually ramp up the (empty) threats. Then the polite letters start again and we're off on a new cycle. I roll them all into spills and light the fire. I like to think that in this small gesture they're paying me. :)

Poker - that's interesting. No visits or threats of court?
Report SlippyBlue March 18, 2019 7:16 PM GMT
They cannot enter your property unless you let them, it's called 'a friendly entry'.
Report Reynard March 18, 2019 7:29 PM GMT
Injera - They inform you that you are under investigation , but in reality it's no more than another empty threat . Must be very distressing for the elderly , but that is probably their intention .

I haven't had a tv at my present address for over five years and the licensing board keeps sending me letters but they seem to take the same procedure.

They send me a letter saying that I have to get in contact with them and confirm I don't have a tv.  I do this and then they send me a letter saying that for two years, I think, they will not harass me but they reserve the right to call on me to confirm I don't have a tv.  Then again after the two years are up they send me the same letter again saying I have to get in contact with them , etc etc.

So far they have not visited me.

I also have the same problem with the electoral register.  I don't put my name down because the last boyfriend I lived with, a long time ago, started to strangle me when i said I was leaving.  They keep coming every year and then say it is okay.  Apparently, there is going to be a law that says that if you have this problem with ex-partners you will be allowed not to register to vote without this fuss.  I wasn't leaving him because of another man, I hadn't been unfaithful.

Good evening, Injera.

Apologies for not replying earlier, sir. I had already logged out. I've received countless threats, none of which materialised into anything at all. As another chit chatter mentioned above, it's clearly an insidious attempt to frighten the elderly or other vulnerable folks. The BBC are a disgrace.
