It was just a strange comment Sontaran. If he really meant it I mean. Being funny is one thing but really believing that is something else and troubling.

If Islamic leaders and the muslim public reacted in the same high profile way as Western politicians and the western public every time there was a signisficant Islamic terrorist attack then islamaphobia would reduce massively.

The level of education is not comparable among the public in West and elsewhere. Among the politicians, the level of control and influence is not comparable. You cannot expect them to eact in the same way, especially when there are also differences in culture, religion and generally accepted behavior.

JC, not sure what you dont like in my comment but expecting an illiterate her mentality public to behave the same as the civilised wesern public is not a very intelligent thing to expect. If you have a good reason for expecting that, I am willing to change my mind.

Anyway, after finding out that NZ has a very lax gun system where once you get a license (v easy to get) you can basically build an arsenal to match the warsaw pact in 1982, yet australia has tight gun laws .. it maybe explains why he moved there to do what he did. Not sure if that's been discussed in the media but it seems a plausible reason (barring any other explanation) why he went that distance to do it.

1st time poster is right.

We have a problem with immigration. Questions need to be asked. The trouble is the dog whistlers play their game and it is a propaganda battle rather than an informed conversation.

detraveller I imagine most of the muslim and religious leaders were either born in the UK or spent most of their life here.  Plenty are doctors and significant portions are well educated.  They might generally not be so media savvy and there are cultural differences, but it's definitely not too much to expect a reasonable level of public condemnation and sympathy for the victims.

Alternatively, it might not be a lack of education and media savvy, more that such a huge proportion of muslims are supportive of Sharia Law, and that the disdain for non islamists is so strong and so entrenched in Islamic society in general, and that many muslims are so fearful of reprisals if they show public sympathy towards non islamic victims.

you mean like Abu Hamza al-Masri?
By:

He's notorious.  I'd hope and expect he's not the blueprint for your typical islamic leader so I wouldn't be talking about people like him.

I'd be confident though that if a christian nutter murdered any muslim in this country in the name of Jesus, that The Archbishop of Canterbury would be on the news speaking about his condemnation and sympathy for the victims family, and that several lesser ranking clergyman would be doing the same at local level.

you might "hope and expect" he's not the blueprint, but you would be very mistaken. As for your second paragraph, point me to an example

Bin Laden was educated at he elite & secular Al-Thager Model School, before going to King Abdulaziz Uni. Educated Mullahs & Imans teach their people the rhetoric they want. It is then up to the 'uneducated' to inerpret their meaning

There are no examples of christians going around killing muslims AFAIK.  My post was clearly hypothetical.

As for whether Abu Hamza is the blueprint, unless you are a regular muslim worshipper, you are not in a position to know.

well you could always ask the Met how many of them they have on their " to be watched list" Every police force in the country keep files on them. 'The Hook was in idiot; he was blatant about what he preached & got away with it for years. Unfortunately just like any other banned subject; all that does is drive it underground.

New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has called for a global fight to root out racist right-wing ideology following last week's deadly attack on two mosques in Christchurch.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-47634132

Good news she's tackling racism. I presume she'll start with the Islamic takeover of white Europe.

Of course in the eyes of the left the brush with which they paint people "far right" or "fascist" is quite insanely broad, covering everyone from those who support Brexit to anyone who questions uncontrolled immigration or anyone who asks if there is a pattern in murderous acts around the world and a belief system, and often "anyone that disagrees with a leftie"..

I am sick to death of the deification of her now that Justin Trudeau has lost a bit of his 'right-on' lustre.

The classic establishment reaction to terrorist incidents is either to ignore them (I'm not into 'whatboutery' but merely draw your attention to the estimated 6,000 Christians killed in North Nigeria by the Fulan in the last 3 months) or the (metaphorical) singing of 'Imagine' and lighting candles, talking about solidarity then pack up and go home until the next nutter (from whatever end of political spectrum) decides that their evil goals are best achieved by slaughtering innocents.

Citizens have to abide by the official government response to atrocities as they occur within their own countries. They are managed and choreographed by the prominent services and the media and if opinions do not fall into line they are not allowed to be publicly expressed.

We're never allowed to talk about terror, debate it, confront it. Where our supine political class seeks to shush concern about the ideology of terror, and to cultivate a passive response to violence, no one encourages us to be concerned. and calls for open, robust and, yes, difficult debate.

P.S Her wearing of the Niquab isn't 'cultural appropriation' on this occasion but a sign of respect - oh how easily the 'rules' are changed when it's 'you' writing the story!

Go back 2 months and head a bit north, and a pile of christians were slaughtered in a church in the phillipines. How much coverage did that get? How many world leaders pontificated at length? Did the BBC go and interview family members to ask how they were affected? Or more likely, did the BBC give it 30 seconds of coverage on the day it happened then go back to covering "diversity" in hollywood.

She's moved pretty fast on the NZ gun laws unlike the USA where they seem prepared to live with the mass shootings in schools, concerts etc. Good on her.

Although you are correct about the right to bear arms in the Constitution, I don't think it mentions military style assault weapons, extended magazines, bump stocks and the like.Sad

You make a good point about the murder of Christians just checking

Unfortunately we are going to hear much more like this over time. Christians are being killed even in Churches in some Muslim countries just as they were slaughtered in a Church in the USA.

What is worse is there are many Hindu Nationalist's  in India with the same angry disparaging, disgusting racist views that have been displayed by many on these forum. They are just like many of the people here in their view of not just foreigners but people with a different religion to them. There will be more attacks on innocent people by bigots all over the World.

There are baskets of deplorable X in every country and they all seem to have a lot in common
