I thought they just waited for a small ice-berg to break off and floated away on it.

That's nothing I know one that can ride a bike that far .

And there used to be an octopus who could juggle 35cans of full coca cola tins

That was before Margaret Thatcher lost them their jobs when she closed all the circuses down by stopping live animal acts (yes I know what your thinking octopuses weren't in circuses )no they wasn't in circuses because the only one that did tricks was the one that I knew and they she stopped live features appearing the same day as he had perfected his act

^ You're in the realms....aren't you Do Wah ?

200 mile swim for the polar bear is like a 20 hour run at 10 mph for a human.

They lose very little heat through their coats so not fatal as it would be for a man.

The bear would be swimming towards the smell of food so would be confident of survival at the end of the swim.

If they can smell food 200 miles away then that is even more impressive than the swimming.

200 miles may be too much but they could be staying near a coastline :

Polar bears have a keen sense of smell, which they use to find prey. A polar bear can sniff out a seal on the ice 20 miles (32 kilometers) away, and can smell a seal's breathing hole in the ice more than half a mile away, according to the National Zoo.
