Took my mother for her cataracts done ,had five hours to kill ,so wondered around the docks and then down to Cleethorpes,what a sad state of affairs (spent my childhood there)
.... and just to note my mother lives in Scunthorpe ,so a 24 mile journey to fix one eye (back again Wednesday for doctor to have a look it’s ok )so I travelled from Derby to Scunthorpe to take my mother to Grimsby, to go back Wednesday, . This is on the NHS at a private clinic ,somethings wrong, one poor lady travelled from Barnsley only to be told no operation due to high blood pressure, she used a taxi

Cleethorpes, Scunthorpe, Derby, Grimsby, Barnsley.I've never been to any of those places before, I've heard of them of course but am I missing out on hidden gems in the U.K? Are there any racecourses nearby? I think Grimsby has Market Rasen not far away but no idea about the rest.
Nottingham not so far from Derby which also brings Leicester in to the equation.
The fish man used to come to us from Grimsby, nowadays he can't be arsed.
Last time I went to Grimsby back in the 1990's, from the motorway you could see chimneys with a flame coming out of them. Are they still there?
Doubt it, the fire brigade will have made it to the scene by now.
