Just about a 10 minute walk from Chelsea FC who are at home tonight.

The trouble is that drugged up kids now think its the new craze. If the press stopped giving it too much coverage it might slow down all those stabbings.

I believe the lad charged with the murder of the greater Manchester stabbing who comes from a well to do family has been given bail until july

It's safer in prison these days than on the streets.

Start jailing anybody carrying a knife and their parents too. That will quickly solve the problem. It all begins in the home. It's the way they are brought up. Sterilisation is another option.

The UK needs to bring back the rope.

Mac - all of your proposals occurred to me.

Aren't parents held responsible if their children don't attend school?  I don't know if you could, in law, punish parents for criminal acts committed by their offspring but I doubt these kids are attending school, so at the very least they could be pursued on that basis.
Report invicta March 7, 2019 7:36 PM GMT
agree with Mac, automatic 5yr sentence for carrying a knife, armed police patrols in certain areas, stop and search anybody and everybody, of course it won't happen, we must not upset the little darlings.
Report RLKingPunter March 7, 2019 7:46 PM GMT
just bring the army in to sort out the gangs and bring back the death penalty , problem solved

What you have to understand is, that the vast majority of the perpetrators are from single parent families. To come up with any solution you have to get to the root of the problem, increasing police numbers is just a sticky plaster solution because the root of juvenile criminality does indeed lie at home - it begins with the absent father, and I say father and not dad because that is the underlying issue, the father was either never there, not known, doesn't want to know or someone not worth knowing, growing up with no man about the house to guide young kids in the right direction, firmly teach him right from wrong and to steer him away from any potential trouble before it arises is the very  beginning of the road towards the deaths of the innocent, the fellow misguided adolescent caught up in the same web of gang life, and themselves, what makes this more likely or what catalyses events is have numerous siblings for the mother to control, living on sink estates and never having any money to move away from the area, and then these young kids in gangs are having kids themselves and so the cycle continues.

With all due respect, it is absolute ridiculous to then compound matters by threatening to put the mother, because in pretty much all cases that's who the parent at home will be, into jail, it's not all her fault and it's not her other children's fault who may have absolutely nothing to do with gangs, who then looks after them, they are more likely to fall in to the same lifestyle when faced with an even more vulnerable situation.

A mum can try her best to being her kids up as well as she can, but when your kids are going to rough schools, live in rough neighbourhoods and forced to interact with rough kids, they tend to get roped into gangs or bullied, once in a gang is extremly hard for them to get out of, you can't just walk away and think that's it, it doesn't work like that, there are consequences in many cases, I heard the girl scout was killed possibly by someone who was forced to take part in a gang initiation process, he had to prove himself by killing someone random.

Throwing the mum in jail will solve precisely zero, it would only make matters much worse, I also disgree with fining parents if they can't get their kids into school, that's just lazy by the authorities, passing the blame because it's easy, if a hot headed, angry angressive teen does not want to go to school, nobody can force him, it generally only makes poorer mothers poorer.

Unfortunantly solving the root of the problem is difficult, young men or teens who have kids cannot be forced to stay with the mother and cannot be stopped from having kids, I don't know what the best solution is but I definitely know what it's not and that's locking up innoncent people with kids to feed and care for.

Best option however to lower knife crime is the simple but expensive option, increase police numbers on the street significantly, build new prisons and hand out much much tougher sentances, if the governent can find hundreds of billions for wars abroad they can find it for wars at home.

There's very little chance of capital punishment being reintroduced. Even if it was, it wouldn't be an option for under-18s.

Yet curiously, far far more children in single-parent families DON'T stab and/or shoot people.

It's like saying the vast majority of em wear shoes. Everyone knows the common denominator but those in charge would rather it continue than mention the elephant in the room.
Report darren_discombobulates_sports March 7, 2019 8:24 PM GMT
The point was that the single parent shouldn't be punished as it solves nothing and only makes matters for worse, not to mention being unfair, it would basically mean just punishing more innoncent people, parent and children. And it's a lazy solution, just blaming the parent the whole time without knowing any circumstances that led to that point. The fact that most of these attackers come from single parent familes is relevant because it highlights the fact that it's more difficult to prevent youngters inadvertently finding themselves into these gangs, as nobody actively looks to join on, they're usually coerced, for the mothers, so punishing them just makes no sense, they've usually had it hard enough trying to raise their kids all alone.

It could also be an idea for kids from single parent familes from certain ghettoised areas that are at -high risk to join a gang, to be assigned a male mentor at school to help with his mindset at an early age steering him away from potential ganglife and the pitfuls that carries, or there could be a government programe to regularly send in former gang members or youth workers with experience of growing up in similar environments to do the same thing, prevention is better than cure.

I know that everyone wants to see immediate cold hard punishment and in the short term that'll work to a point, but they have life sentances for other serious crimes but those crimes are still commited, long term solution is surely changing the direction of vulnerable youngsters in vulnerable areas at an early age, every solution always seems to be a quick fix or a soundbite to calm fears.

Is it not time to say that fatherless homes are to be discouraged across ALL communities. The role of the Father has been underplayed for years. Women are encouraged to marry the State instead.

The PC brigade have actively encouraged the single mother 'family'. It's a disaster.

I pity these women who have to try and control boys who are taller and stronger than them.
