My MP is a BREXIT supporter, but also failed to vote to dump May in the recent vote. Here is my latest letter, no doubt to be ignored like all the rest. I am sure I must have forgotten something .....
Dear Mr MacKinlay
I am white, British, born in Britain, 71 and have been a middle-class professional teacher for 50 years. I am NOT as leftards would describe me "far-right". I am actually a fanatical defender of democracy and self-determination. However, I am now almost at the point where I would favour a military takeover of this country. YES, THINGS ARE THAT BAD.
The House of Commons (INCLUDING your party) is beyond contempt in failing the nation:
- you (collectively) have allowed mass immigration that NOBODY VOTED FOR
- we have a horrific ISLAM presence with all that goes with it (Have you even READ the KORAN and the cv of Muhammed?)
- you have for decades connived in the COVERING UP of Muslim crimes against our children
- you have WELCOMED BACK and given huge benefits to hundreds of traitorous Muslim Jihadis who fought for the barbaric ISIS
- you have COVERED UP sexual abuse by politicians and others in the Establishment
- you have SYSTEMATICALLY broken your promises on both immigration and LEAVING THE EU
- you elected to guide us OUT of the quasi-fascist and ruinous EU a leader who campaigned to REMAIN - are you INSANE?
- you have allowed housing, education and the NHS to be swamped and overloaded thanks to your policies
- indigenous British people are systematically slagged off and defavourised: white, British working-class kids are now horrendously disadvantaged
- the education system is corrupt; full of leftard teachers, including in universities, where students are now being suspended for defending UKIP
- you have allowed the police to become the tool of the corrupt Establishment and degraded their ability to actually fight real crime
- you tolerate a justice system where courts give out ludicrously-soft sentences, where criminals are free to repeat offend over and over again, where prison warders are often afraid of the inmates, where Muslim fanatics radicalise OTHER Muslim prisoners, where drugs and mobile phones are rife - THIS IS ALL QUITE INCOMPREHENSIBLE
- you have enabled the horrific rise in gang-warfare and ensuing knife and other attacks (even UNBELIEVABLY, ACID attacks), especially in our once-great capital city
- you are engaged in the systematic suppression of free speech
- the BBC is biased and corrupt and is NO LONGER the mouthpiece of the people, but the puppet of the Establishment
- you are persecuting people who PROTEST about all this abuse (Britain First & Tommy Robinson for a start)
- you are encouraging and tolerating a lunatic PC attitude, but the PC is insane and/or fascist
- you send MILLIONS in aid to hideous regimes, including PAKISTAN (a country with nuclear weapons, a space programme and whose citizens come to Britain and gang-rape our girls) and CHINA, the world's second largest economy and which will certainly start the next World War over Taiwan and the South China Sea - THIS AID NONSENSE IS TOTALLY INSANE, and NO VOTER SANCTIONED IT
- you tolerate our MILITARY VETERANS sleeping rough in their thousands and getting little help with PTSD and joblessness
- you have destroyed British decency and commonsense in public life and lowered the reputation of Palace of Westminster to UNPRECEDENTED LEVELS of contempt
- you do NOTHING about the HIDEOUSLY UNDEMOCRATIC LUNACY of the House of Lords, or the obscene misuse of the MPs' and Lords' expenses system
- YOU SEEM NOT TO CARE WHAT THE PEOPLE YOU REPRESENT WANT; you are contemptuous of their opinions, yet YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO REPRESENT THEM - AND YOU ARE PAID (VERY WELL) BY THEM
You need to:
1) GET RID of May - unbelievably, NONE of you voted to remove her in the recent confidence vote; what a craven, party-first disgrace THAT was
2) Elect a patriot with some balls, to be frank.
3) Introduce some TOUGHNESS into your politics: it is all so flabby, "liberal", scared of "offending" anyone, PC and frankly lunatic.
4) ABOLISH the BBC NOW - it has become a hideous cancer in our public life.
5) GET OUT OF THE EU NOW; the EU will NEVER give us anything like a favourable deal, a fact that is bleedin' obvious to everyone except half the HOC, who thereby confirm their moron status.
6) BRING BACK TRADITIONAL BRITISH VALUES AND COMMONSENSE - banning HALAL would be a good start; how the HELL can you tolerate this barbaric cruelty.
However, I am not holding my breath. As I said, I am starting to feel that only the military can save Britain, and I NEVER thought I would have to say that. I am copying my letter to Facebook and half expect to be arrested for some kind of "hate-crime". THIS IS NOT THE BRITAIN I WANT. I have little time left myself, but I WOULD LIKE TO LEAVE SOMETHING DECENT FOR MY CHILDREN.

Indeed do Wah...MP's are to busy scrambling around trying to find a way of reversing brexit than waste time replying to letters from their constituents.
I'd be surprised if that letter ever got to the MP. Probably opened by a party worker and consigned to the idiot bin
7) Obviousy i accept that it was my generation that caused and oversaw all the above issues. We were happy to have money spent on us, giving us hospitals, housing and job security for life but we were very unhappy that we had to pay off any debt so we didn't bother, doing anything about it such as investing the oil money in a sovereign fund or doing anything with it other than make rich people richer. Since my generation has been in power (both in gov and as mangers in public and private world) we have, amongst many other issues, ruined the transport system that enriches shoddy work and is stupidly expensive, sold off all our assets to foreign governments so now they run pretty much all the infrastructure in the country and we overpay them vast sums of money to do this (but most of us seem blissfully unaware that it is foreign govs that own these train/power/outsourcing companies).
My generation also pretty much ended large scale industrial manufacturing and left vast areas of the country to rot (leaving it to the EU to kick start investment) and again sold it (land and manufacturing) to foreign investors and governments and were surprised when 20-30 years later those communities aren't happy at being forgotten about. We bang on about the war as if we were really there and say how great national service would be as if we actually did it when we did feck all in the war as we weren't born and all missed national service - this night be why we seem to want to live in a time more akin to the 1850's but think it is the 1950's. not realising that we are in the C21st. We have a bizarre notion of history that we won every war on our own and Allies (in Europe) played no or a very tiny part in that victory when really battles such as Waterloo would not have been won without (European) help - hell we've not even really heard of the battle of Blenheim (1704) and we certainly don't know about any defeats as what's the point in that?
We we all set to carry on our very very comfortable lives into old age, having no mortgage to pay and reaping the benefits of watertight job security through our entire working lives and having overly generous pensions that weren't open to another generation. So we were already handing the younger generation a very sh!tty stick (job security? own your own house? give up work at 50? etc etc etc) but at the last minute we rammed that sh1tty stick up the younger generation's arrse as hard as we could because we just don't care about anyone else other than ourselves and we absolve ourselves of any responsibility for the world we live in today.

Did a stint in an MP's office many years ago and the correspondence from the local nutters was always a highlight. The MP was only ever shown the most hilarious excerpts.

- the rambling, contradictory "arguments"
- everyone else is a "lunatic", "moron", "insane", some form of "tard"
- the reference to other, unanswered, letters (any loon worth their salt would send a monthly missive with practically the same content.)
- the absolute conviction that they have all the answers if only someone would LISTEN!

That generation fell for the govt bribery ("Tell Sid") - they were happy to let the govt sell off all of the national assets (housing, telecoms, power, etc, etc) on the basis that they were allowed to buy a very small fraction of it themselves (at half price) and they could double their money (about 200 quid) overnight on their handful of shares. Council houses pretty much given away, BT the same, Gas the same, the list is endless.

I'm not a socialist but i'd rather see tens of thousands of middle managers earning 40-50k for doing very little in an inefficiently run nationalised industry (but paying tax and then spending and reinvesting almost everything else they earn in the uk) than some billionaire sitting on a yacht, paying zero uk tax and hoarding the money.

So funny that our "assets" most of which were private companies only nationialised for 2 or 3 decades and were private in history before then, are seen through historical revision goggles as if they were national assets since Adam and Eve. During the entire industrial revolution etc these were private organisations. As commented the other day, little Japan with few national resources has private industries that dominate many markets or at least compete. We had sh1t nationalised industries with out of control dinosaur trade union influence and their death was pretty much 1.01. Who wants to to back to a national BT monopolty where you couldn't even plug a new phone in without an engineer being called out?

No political bias here so find it easy to say good letter full of common sense.
So we have the self confessed conceited middle class professional, writing a totally unprofessional letter, that sounds like he comes from the gutter. I think it's a wind up, but if it is genuine, it would only enforce the belief that ridding the UK of non PC attitudes is the answer, so it actually does more harm than good in the alleged cause.
Then we have numerous replies from alleged economic experts, who don't have the first clue about the subject they are talking about. I don't think they are on the wind-up, just deluded.

Future generations are imho screwed because the rise of AI and robotics is going to take so many jobs. Their primary reasonable complaint in the UK now (and I agree with this) is the difficulty of getting on the housing ladder which has a huge number of knock on effects re instability and high rent etc. But the irony is the generation who will be most involved with the AI/robotics revolution (that unless handled well will be a social disaster) is .. the younger generation crying hard done by now.

Me! - Like i said, I would prefer to pay my 40 quid a month for a nationalised monopoly (with all it's inefficiencies) knowing that all the wages they pay to their bloated number of uk employee numbers involve uk tax being paid and the employees then spending their remaining take home pay in the uk. Monopoly was no worse than all the cartels we currently have (energy big 6 etc) except they are mostly foreign owned and obliged to minimise tax and maximise profits for their shareholders.

The obvious flaw I can see in your simplistic assumption, with no figures to back anything up, is where doo you get the £40-£50k to pay the 250,000 employees doing very little?

Telecoms giants like Vodafone, BT and Sky are owned by shareholders, not some rich oligarch living abroad and paying no tax. Firms like the Prudential hold stocks and shares in their UK clients pension portfolio along with I assume plenty of foreign shares from other countries. The reason the FTSE went down after the BREXIT vote was because the weak pound increased the value of the foreign earnings that made up the UK FTSE.

Google is a monopoly. UK firms pay fees to google and those fees got to fund the US economy. Can we do anything about it? I've no idea.

I don't think we are getting screwed by the wealthy from China or Russia fwiw. More likely we are getting screwed by the likes of VISA Mastercard Google Facebook and Amazon. But the reality might be that we can't do much about it.
I can't be bothered Clydebank - I flippantly said back when BT employed 250,000+, tens of thousands of them were middle management earning 40-50k for doing very little.

The overarching point was that all of the 250,000+ paid employees paid uk tax via PAYE and then spent their remaining take home pay in the uk - it benefited the uk and 250,000 people were in this scenario. In the current scenario only 100,000 people do this now.
The money that used to go to the other 150,000 does not any more, they have been made redundant, it goes somewhere else now and where it goes is nowhere near as beneficial to the uk.

You've missed the point that these people were paid by the public purse. So you pay £3 in taxable rake so you get £1 back in tax. The new efficient firm with 100,000 workers still pay tax as does the corporate BT. 1

But if we are going to deliberately misinterpret/misunderstand what we are saying I can only assume that you think selling off everything that you own to foreign bodies for half of its true price was a good idea. You must be delighted that most of our

Most of 350,000 miners (already shrunk from 800,000 post war) who might not have made much, or any, profit were put onto benefits while coal could be bought from Poland at cost. Bringing no assistance to our people. Add that the many thousands of supply industry employees around this and maybe 1 million people suddenly have nothing to spend to circulate around the economy and money does what it has for 40 years... trickle to those who already have it.

If people had money, they'd spend it and under an idea for a scheme known, iirc, as "Helicopter payments" where every adult in the country is given £1000 - £50 billion cost - which largely returns through revenue - it nearly happened and would have taken the place of quantitative easing, where successive chancellors gave it to banks, who in turn promised to lend it to business, but didn't!
So - as it happens, an economist DID think of it before. But for politicians, giving money to rich people is better than giving it to poorer people.
As for selling stuff for 1/2 the price, it's happening on a daily basis with NHS land. But like everything else there's no point in talking about it on here.

I see this morning that the "mistakes" made in the privatisation of the Probation Service have cost the MoJ (the taxpayer) 500m pounds (yep just half a billion pounds of taxpayers money)! So much for the efficiency that competition and privatisation will deliver.
Who in their right minds thought the Probation Service was an "industry" that needed privaiting? Seems like just the kind of business where you want captains of industry trying to chase meaningless KPI's and targets with a CEO that will change the "strategy" every few months in search of value for his shareholders!
No doubt when it all blows over those in charge will get a knighthood or be given the chairmanship of a "regulatory body" or quango.

Yeah that's the problem for sure. It's very surprising that the outsourced agency workers on 7 pounds an hour aren't having more success at rehabilitating them isn't it.
