i dont think swingers would be tolerated in pakistan these days

their PM was a master of it

did he go swinging with jemima? there's a thought
![]() |
By:
Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis were the best opening bowlers I think I've ever seen live, totally unplayable at times. They could reverse swing like I've never seen before.
By:
agreed, toe crushing in swinging yorkers the like of which i havent seen before or after, amazing stuff.
By:
Indeed jollyswagman, my local team is Surrey and I was often at the Oval. I can vividly remember Ian Botham getting yorked by Waqar Younis and Botham just walked off shaking his head wondering what on earth happened there? An absolutely unplayable delivery!
By:
i think when they had reverse swing we doubted the players integrity but once we had some players who mastered it we had a different view.
By:
Yes we learned how to use bottle tops!

time to bring on the spinners...
By:
ah Donny; someone who might actually understand what this topic was about
By:
i remember watching max walker bowl some unplayable spells over here.
i could spin it, leg or offspin, and could get it to move off the seam bowling quick(ish) but i dont ever recall getting it to move in the air, i never thought about launching it on end of a rocket... |
By:
my dear papa used to tell me about an Aussie bowler called Gary Gilmour who could swing it like a "Darwin boomerang" I believe he was a lefty, Donny so he may not be in support of rocket launching at the oppo |
By:
i remember gilmour, he was around same time as walker, lillee and thompson
didnt he win the semi of world cup against us? took 5 or 6 wickets in 12 overs for about 12 runs? then he batted at 5 or 6 when they were struuglin to match our 100 or so and had a slog to good effect? think he bowled well in final too great days when there was proper live sport on bbc and war correspondents stirring up more and more conflict were few and far between... |
By:
just had a look at Wiki, Donny. He only played 15 tests; had a tussle with Max Walker for a places & then signed for Kerry Packer. It didn't go well & he maintains he was ostracised for signing for Packer. Problems with weight seemed to finish him off. He was a decent bat looking at his stats
By:
aye he had weight problems, and suffered a few injuries, iirc
those lads that signed for packer were well paid, which was a strong attraction back then when most cricketers were not well paid |
By:
now can we get back to the rocket scenario

By:
i don't think chit chat does cryptic looking at this & Jacks topic
By:
mick malone was the boy, remember one test he bowled all day.

By:
Bob Massie a shocking omission. 16 wickets in a test win at Lords and then disappeared
By:
1972 from memory
Had a great test debut and that was that. He will always be remembered and be able to dine out on that one test Match. |

Pakistan shot down 2 Indian fighter jets and taken one pilot hostage
Good for them, not taking any s**t good for them |
By:
It is interesting to study both countries' media. I opened NDTV website and Dawn's website. NDTV claims India killed 350 terrorists and shows pictures of an empty mosque, claiming it was a training camp. Dawn says Indian jets dropped their payload in an open field and hurried back into their own territory.
One of them is lying. I would say its India because in today's world, you would have evidence of bombing a target(especially when they claim the Indian PM saw the operation live) Anyways, for those that never believed me regarding how biased the media can be, just take a look at both countries' media. |
By:
And that's why all media need to be shut down, detraveller
Because its a he said, she said, and they said "who to believe" how about none of them, shut them all down and then go after their pay masters |
By:
Fk the media. I wonder which country fires a nuclear bomb first.
By:
Has to be Pakistan that initiates, due to its smaller size. They can't afford getting attacked first.
By:
Pakistan should be helped long before we help India imo
India are more sly than we give them credit for |
By:
I thought UK had enough issues at home not to bother with a conflict thousands of miles away(though they've joined every single one in the last two decades)
By:
Let them fight, there might well be a lot of lessons to learn form the first nuclear war.
By:
Pakistan should be helped long before we help India imo
India are more sly than we give them credit for Why should we help - specifically Pakistan, but really either? |
By:
Because India are sly as f*** imo
Pakistan get a lot of unwarranted bad press |
By:
@jed There are many good reasons for a developed country to get involved in a war. But this war is slightly different than the ones we;ve fought in the last two decades. I doubt anyone from here or the US gets involved. The only involvement will come from China once it becomes clear that they are on the verge of a nuclear war. China has invested too much money in Pakistan just to watch it burn in flames.
By:
In fact UK has some stake in the BRI in Pakistan as well. But there's no way UK/EU military can help as both India and PAk are nuclear powers and have the capability to destroy each other without any outside help.
By:
I would doubt we would get involved either, but I was asking you why you think Pakistan should be helped when its military is acknowledged to be the largest mafia organisation in the world.
By:
And more importantly, when its military provides support, both financial and moral, for some of our most virulent enemies?
By:
Fk me when did Pakistan military become the largest mafia organisation in the world? They control afghanistan but thats probably as far as their influence goes.
By:
Even the Pakistan human smuggling mafia controls more teritory than the Pakistan army
