remember watching these plays in the 60s 70s some good uns among the crap uns  ! worth a watch

I remember it late 50's, early 60's on ITV. Excellent series. Less good in the 70's but still watchable. Talking Picture have got their hands on some good old series, as well as obscure but watchable old movies.

yes i have the chanel  on most of the time , the missus and 2 sons dont like it usually say "whats this shyte " when the black n white films are on,  ! now that they are showing armchair theatre , be great if they could get those playhouse or play for today that the beeb used to show ,some cracking plays back then .not holding my breath tho

some real gritty northern 60s plays worth watching on youtube  by great playwrites denis potter ken loach etc ,stand up nigel barton,up the junction etc well worth a watch ,

Wasn't there another good series called The Wednesday Play on BBC?

That was well before the corporation got taken over by lefties.

I remember the BBC saying they had to record over old video tape because it was expensive.

I hate to think what they may have erased.

It is like painting over a Rembrandt because that is the only canvas available.


I hope some have survived and are shown, some Harold Pinter work there as well.

yes reggie thank fook that some  are still available , i remember some of those playhouse type plays when i was a youth  one called grown ups and the blue remembered hills among others will see if i can find em and see if they were as good as i thought they were in the 70s
