I haven't looked at the clip, but very much doubt that it would make me stupid, which is a requirement for voting leave, if the opportunity is again presented.
Report saddo January 19, 2019 7:32 PM GMT

what?  You are the one who posted "to make everyone vote leave".  That could only happen if there was another referendum.

I merely pointed out that given that opportunity and given the implications of leaving someone would have to be stupid to change their vote.

remainers saying they will vote leave after so much of this remain tyranny.

That these people were ever remainers is just as believable as if I were to post a video showing some mean things about the Tory party and then post "I used to vote Tory but now I have to vote Labour after this!"

Do you really think that someone who has played at the game's highest level would gaf about a maggot pretending to have played him?

Yet another over-privileged white female towing the party groupthink by demonising the elderly people of this country.

Report Just Checking January 19, 2019 11:07 PM GMT
Lefties seem to think that because older people are more right/leave and young are left/remain that this is a constant throughout their lives, so an input of more lefties means over time everyone will be more leftie, tha's not wat it works.

For every new 18 year old clueless student who thinks they know it all and will put the world to rights with the old socialism, there is a 30/40 something EX clueless student who has seen how the left operate, had life experience, has a job, and had enough and will vote Tory and leave. A number of right wing journalists were left in their youth. Peter Hitchens for example was a leftie member of Labour when he was young. I considered myself a bit of a leftie when I was a student. You grow up.

These are divided times. When Labour have been taken over by unacceptable political extremists and remain spend all their time belittling leave voters and trying to subvert democracy, you'll get a reaction.
Report Baphornet January 20, 2019 12:40 AM GMT
indeed. I spend my time wishing (in quieter moments) that Labour were a real alternative to the Tories. A real choice is what the country needs, or you end up with what we've got now; a political mish mash of centralised pretense

Report aaronh January 20, 2019 11:14 AM GMT
there seems to be some imaginary world where only Remainers and lefties are saying mean things and all the horrible stuff leavers and right wingers say is just ignored Crazy

the switch to the right is happening at an older age if people are to believed. for one, the cultural divide on social issues is not going to split the way it did in the previous generation.

that previous 30/40 "ex clueless student" in the past generation probably got onto the housing market when it wasn't out of control, probably has had constant nice pay rises.

there seems to be a huge overestimation in the importance of student politics by people who haven't stepped on a campus ever also

what do you want in a "real alternative"?

That's certainly what Corbyn provides, even if you're never going to agree with him.

The stereotypical ultra-remain voter seems to want the second coming of Blair but without the bad wars. e.g. a David Miliband or something like that

Report Baphornet January 20, 2019 11:19 AM GMT
they did it because they never thought they'd lose. Now whatever happens, it gladdens me that the 'people' gave them a good thumping. Now they are trying to squirm out of the result by fair means or foul. This will cause bmore agggrevation  than they ever bargained for
Report aaronh January 20, 2019 11:21 AM GMT
it was hideously irresponsible of the government to not truly outline any contingency plan in the result of a Leave vote, that's for sure.

should have required a super majority to fix the vote Devil
Report Baphornet January 20, 2019 11:25 AM GMT
an "alternative" to an old  Marxist, Trotskyist, Leninist, Stalinist or Maois (take your pick) would be a change for the better. Milliband would be PM by now if he had got the gig. Corbyn may have his core base; but he will never become PM. I presume that's what Labour voters want in the long run?
Report aaronh January 20, 2019 11:34 AM GMT
the manifesto was really not all that radical, even if Corbyn himself may be. and the 2017 performance clearly indicates they attracted more than their core support (+30 seats, +3m votes, + whatever swing %). you could basically plant a more palatable leader in place of Corbyn with the same manifesto and they'd win I think. they are still leading in lots of polls now.

Ed Miliband was an average centre leftist, which is what loads of people seem to be clamouring for but was hammered in the election presumably because he just seemed a bit of a geek
Report Baphornet January 20, 2019 11:45 AM GMT
yes agree about "palatable" leader, which is my point really. As for an election; i'm pretty sure if Corbyns still in charge there is a rather ignominious little clerk; sat in the bowels of Whitehall guarding a drawer full of 'evidence' to produce against him if needed. The establishment would never allow Corbyn to rule

Milliband followed by Corbyn could have been so much better, aaronh
Report aaronh January 20, 2019 11:56 AM GMT
I posted how I'd like Clive Lewis in one of the other threads, if you are going to pick someone from that circle.

if Labour are going to explicitly come out in support of remain, they might as well go the whole way and take steps to get Starmer in. they absolutely cannot do it with Corbyn despite what every FBPE on Twitter says he should do CrazyCrazyCrazy
Report Baphornet January 20, 2019 12:02 PM GMT
well Lewis has certainly got the 'cred' & the antecedents for the job, aaronh. not to sure about Party support though?

and fully agree with your 2nd paragraph
Report aaronh January 20, 2019 12:09 PM GMT
I don't know if there is any recent suggestion of who the PLP choice would be. They absolutely embarrassed themselves trying to take out Corbyn at a time they probably had a half decent chance to had they got things right. as it was, they stumbled about between two different picks which were probably both bad in the end
Report Baphornet January 20, 2019 12:18 PM GMT
i find it refreshing that we can have a civil chat, aaronh when our allegiances are so different. Maybe that's what the House is missing; alongside some more MP'S that actually do care

the more i think about Lewis, the more i'm liking the idea. I've now got to find an "alternative" for my Party
Report Baphornet January 20, 2019 12:20 PM GMT
