Surely the Irish would've preferred a Hitler victory so they could get their 6 counties back. But I doubt that would be on the negotiation table as the tanks rolled into Dublin.

moisok the border is an imaginary border , it doesn’t exist , no more that the border between England and Scotland
And it will remain so no matter what trade or custom arrangements are necessary
They do not matter in the team world , except for those who want to create trouble

Well you are entitled to your opinion as all of us on here lfc1971

You say you have no interest in the past, but nevertheless it often leads to the present

by the laws of cause and effect.

I am the opposite I only care about the past, I do not like the present, which is why I live in the past, as

much as I am able...not having a time machineSad

I'm not too young but never had an "old" head, you only have the one chance Uble, i understand things seem simpler going back through  the years and they probably were,still... You can still head off in winter from here to the sun relatively cheaply, the general standrad of living is a lot better.

You will never get the amount of greyhound tracks again, different times, not such fond memories myself with the dogs and often remember skinnings from Romford in the 80's where i would be the only one that had the bus fare(for 86?) amongst the group of degenrative gamblers i hung around with.

I remember all the greyhounds tracks in London from the very late 60's on.

I loved them.

You are right pa lapsy life is far more comfortable than it has ever been. But I still seem to badly miss the

past.

Good history documentary...2 1/2 hours, about Elizabeth 1st.on channel 5 tonight

She was one of our greatest monarchs and extremely strong minded. She survived suitors who wanted to marry her

while her sister, Mary was still on the thread. Any agreement would have meant her own death. Through the

problems caused by Mary Queen of Scots, the Spanish Armada to the seriously deluded Earl of Essex who thought

he could replace her in her final years.

I think she did a little sad, old and lonelySad. But didn't she do well.

I wish I had been historian, another regret from the past.

What I love about it, it is as dramatic as fiction, but it is real.

I think lfc1971 lives in a very simple world...

Where everything is either black or white, and he cannot bear anyone to challenge this

Still maybe we are the only ones who ever hear, in fact read his opinions..

I hope one day he will learn something, but no luck so far

He has the democratic right to postSad, Laugh

lfc1971 does not understand that having had to fight a war with Britain to gain their independence

That it would then be difficult for them to fight for us.

But they did not fight against us in WW11 they were neutral.

Their shipping was bombed by both the axis and allied powers.

They probably gave us a little help...I think they realised how bad Hitler was.

Although I suspect there may have been the odd German spy over there, trying to ferret out information

about N.Ireland and the rest of Britain, in an attempt to guide in their bombers.

Also them declaring war on Germany would probably not have done a lot of good, when one looks at the weapons

the Germans had, and what Southern Ireland had

I have no trouble with Southern Ireland's role in WW11, because I understand it.
