You're too soft !
By:
And what about your side of the story?
The usual no to Irish living in the UK? OF course forget Del and Tel down in the Sol or Graham and Wayne on Coole mountain(with 6 figures also working and living in the Rep, with an expected 200k lookingfor a passport this year? Yep, get Micheal O'Leary on the case, rather than a glib statement, you need a solution, come up with one. |

By:
ok lapsy here’s one
Freedom of trade , but not freedom of movement of people into the U.K. For the ROI , just like the rest of your European friends There’s a solution ,hows that ? |
By:
German Secret Service blackmailed the monster Heath into taking us into EU.....it is postulated !
By:
200 years doesn't matter,i suppose nearly a hundred doesn't either, except your chestnut of ireland and world wars are on every 2nd thread, the stench of hypocrisy.
By:
You see there are very many solutions if the Irish were ameanable , and wanted to help Britain as it tries to leave the EU
But there are not being very helpful now are they ? That’s something we can remember as well |
By:
You see that’s not history , that’s not 200 years ago I don’t care
That’s today , to my mind that’s more important sorry |
By:
So I suggest you stop crying about past lapsy , to me the present is more important
By:
I'm not crying, you were the person that said historically Ireland and Britain hadn't great relations, you are quite content to point the finger at Ireland and totally ignore the root causes, seriously?
By:
I couldn’t give two hoots about last relationions
I’m just pointing out you haven’t changed |
By:
You know you never said what you though t of my solution
By:
You see that’s a problem we have today
Try to be helpful please |
By:
I'll tell ya the problem today.
It is never anyones fault, certainly not your own, blame someone else, And that is you my friend, your politians have made a pigs ear of brexit but hey, you are so far stuck up your own ar$$e you cant accept, Yes, i will blame Ireland. Slan. |
By:
There we go
By:
Yep nailed it,you blame Ireland for your excuses of negotiators, how they laughed in Brussels in Sept,
we both know it. |
By:
you are arguing about the past and the present what about the future and the 70 million turks that are on their way after the 29th.

By:
You have to understand history, to understand where we are now lfc1971
pa lapsy is right Do you know why Ireland is split? James 1st was responsible for this. He settled Scottish Protestants in Ireland to keep down the Catholics. Unfortunately when we decided to give Ireland it's independance the descendants of those Scottish Protestants decided they wanted to stay with Britain and were prepared to fight for it. It has not not been the perfect solution, but it has had to do. |
By:
One day Ireland will join up again.
When religion becomes a little less important. But it cannot be forced, the majority of those in the North have to vote for it. |
By:
You are right Brassneck, we have more recent immigrants to worry about than the Irish.
By:
Ebul , sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof
That’s from the King James Bible , The Irish can thank us for that as well , cheers |
By:
plus history is bunk , that’s Henry Ford .
What happened 300 years ago doesn’t bother me , i insist on being unbothered by that |
By:
Indeed,"history is bunk",that is of course til you start banging on again about Ireland in the world wars, you will most certainly be very bothered by that.
By:
pa lapsy di you agree with my views on the Irish free state during WW2, or do you think i an wrong ?
or do you think it is bunk ? Which is it ? go ahead .... |
By:
It is history, therefore irrelevant and bunk according to your good self.
By:
No I’m not asking what I think , I’m asking what you think
Go ahead .. |
By:
You ignored and dismissed the really important episodes of Irish history ie,plantations, famine etc,if your attitude to history is "bunk" or at best disingeniously selective,no point in giving my views on a very simple and agricultural Ireland during the world wars.
By:
now we are not going to get very far if you can’t be honest
I was asking do to agree with my views on the Irish Free state during WW2, or do you think I am wrong or do you think it is bunk ? Which is it ? , go ahead .... |
By:
Haha, it doesn't matter what i think, you said history is bunk,i didn't
By:
I didn’t say it Henry ford said it
Now let’s try again I was asking do you agree with my views on the Irish free state during WW2, or do you think I am wrong or do you think it is bunk ? Go ahead ... |
By:
I was asking do you agree with my views on the Irish free state during WW2, or do you think I am wrong
You have not put your view up yet lfc19712, so it is difficult to agree or disagree? The Irish Free State were neutral in WW11, they were neither for or against us. From 1918 - 1921 Ireland was war with Britain, until in 1921 they were given their Independence and Ireland was split. This was followed by another war between the Irish Free State and the IRA as to who was to rule the newly independent South of Ireland. Bearing this in mind it is not all that surprising that the Irish Free State did not wish to fight for us in WW11. A lot of people still had memories of their war for independence, and had not forgotten the dreaded Black & Tans. All Ireland fought and died for us in WW 1. Men from Northern Ireland fought and died for us in WW11. When I read the history of Ireland I am shocked and ashamed they way Britain has treated Ireland throughout their history, I would not blame them for disliking Britain. It is sad because Ireland is a beautiful country. I would have retired to a bungalow in S. Ireland had my life worked out as it should. Sky Sports is available there, we can bet there as we can here and they drink Guinness which I like. Sadly my life feel apart so I will die in this country, although I can still drink Guinness lool |
By:
Well let’s take a little look at your view of the Irish free state ebul
Your first sentence , the Irish free state we’re neutral in WW2 , they were neither for nor against us How do you know they were neither for nor against us ? All we know is that they refused to fight and help Britain As we fought against the most evil and ruthless regime So that’s what we do know . And we know that they sent a letter of condolence to Berlin on Hitler’s death Can you imagine , silly fools That’s what we do know Now that’s just your first sentence ebul Sorry I’m not impressed so far |
By:
Won’t go any further than the first sentence ebul
But I can assure you would have to be careful what you said if you had moved to live in bungalow in s Ireland And be careful to agree with their version of history , yes if things had gone that way |
By:
A letter?
Neville Chamberlain gave a part of Czechoslovakia to Hitler, his policy of appeasement in the 1938 Munich agreement was nothing short of staggering. Policies which fuelled the nazis. |
By:
Pa lapsy Britain fought against the evil german Nazi regime
The ROI refused Those are the facts |
By:
You see it’s very easy to stand on the sidelines and criticise
By:
5000 Irish died in ww2,35,000 ww1 and many other thousands injured, it was a poor agricultural country at the time.
By:
Very nice post btw Uble.
