How can anyone have Breaking Bad ahead of The Sopranos?! I really enjoyed BB (eventually...) but it's pretty simplistic stuff. The Sopranos is art.

The Sopranos is 10/10, The Wire is 9.5/10, Breaking Bad is 8.5/10.

The Wire is badly let down by season 5 when McNulty starts tampering with crime scenes to make out there's a serial killer on the loose targeting the city's homeless is completely daft. Pity, because most of the rest of it, is as good as The Sopranos.

Yeah you could tell they ran out of ideas a bit with Season 5, it's still perfectly watchable though with the whole Marlo storyline, it's just not to the ridiculously high standards of the others.

Breaking Bad was excellent, but come on, nothing touches The Sopranos.  It has everything, the drama, a long list of much loved characters, fantastic dialog, the hard core violence, some of the funniest scenes ever, and an endless list of amazing one liners. And it has longevity - something the rest all fail with eventually.

Breaking Bad much better, every scene counts in BB, where as the Paris shopping stuff with his wife etc was a right load of old filler and the ending was a cop out unlike BB where we got a proper conclusion and not the oh i've ran out of ideas, quick fade to black!

Sopranos in different league to any other show, the characters they built up over the years amazing walnuts my fav the tight bastard.

Plenty of episodes in The Sopranos that were just plain average....I can only think of one in Breaking Bad where they tried to catch that damn fly.

No argument from me there mate, the wire is great also, tough going at first all the street talk but stick with it. If you havn't seen gomorrah also a must see its so addictive.

Yep, I was going to give Gomorrah a mention. So stylishly shot and terrifying as well.

if you like Gomorrah strongly advise Fugitives on all4 set in mainly chile , ( makes don peitro look like a ****cat )

Has anyone watched the Brazilian serial killer drama Merciless ?    I just finished watching all the episodes (Its on the CH4 on-demand box set list).  Excellent imo.

I used to watch sport 24/7 , watched a few shows like the wire and realised i was watching sport praying it would entertain other than the betting. Football is 90% crap, horse racing is still the best sport around.

Sopranos 6/10 for me. First season, bit slow to get going but 2nd half is good. Second season was excellent. Just became repetitive from there with only a slight rally for the final bit of the last season. Put me off the big boxsets for life.

Me too I.S. I am totally addicted to horse racing, I just cannot imagine me giving it up, I just love the sport. I do bet on football but I much prefer NFL and rugby.

The Sopranos without doubt the greatest TV ever made. Incredible acting.

The Sinner the complete opposite, total waste of time, could have been a Black Mirror 50 min episode, dragged out to 8 hours of filler...

Just started watching this after a mate loaned me season one. Yesterday I watched first episode and today watched episodes 2 & 3. It's a comedy, surely!

I liked the Sopranos, but it wasn't as good as I had expected after reading all the rave reviews about it.  Especially I think the main man, I forget his name, was miscast as he was not as nasty as he would have been in real life.  But maybe as a woman I didn't enjoy all the nasty stuff as men would do

I think Breaking Bad was better.

I'm 7 episodes in and like you annie; I can't see what all the fuss is about, in fact I'm getting a little bored with it already

Not many; I'm not a big TV watcher at all, but love a good film. I started watching Prison Break and found that far-fetched in the first series and didn't bother with the rest. I recently took a look at 'Lie To Me' which I stayed with until the end.

I will admit I was very interested in 'Escape to Dannemora' on Sky Atlantic and thoroughly enjoyed that

You are like me, Aspro - I don't even have a tv but I have watched box sets, films and football around my ex boyfriend's place.

I thought the same about prison break and gave up watching it after a season or two.  Never heard of escape at dannemora but will put it on my mythical list of stuff to watch - when I get a tv!

Not see Soprano's but better than The Wire? That's some big talk right there. I've heard it is the same thing throughout all the seasons all top quality stuff but violence, violence, violence. I doubt it would have the same kind of layers as The Wire. I will get around to watching it all though sounds like I'm in for a treat regardless. I can comment on BB it is very good, brilliant in fact not quite up there with The Wire but we are talking about the golden of TV you don't have to be top dog to be compelling viewing.
