Also the quality of politician seems to be going down. In all parties including the Tories but seriously, the Libs, Labour have had a more dramatic crash in the quality of politician. Labour's front bench are &&&&ing morons, this is widely accepted, look at the respect people had for figures (that I respected) like Ashdown and Kennedy vs the weak hand wringing SJWs the LDs have now. The SNP/Plaid have always been clueless. It's all very depressing.

Labour made a ghastly error 8 years ago when choosing Cain over Abel. They are still paying for it. Abel could have become PM

Agree with JC's last point. Reckon it's more that the standard of our Parliamentarians has never been lower. I remember the **** end of Tory rule in the 90s was just about the most corrupt, self serving bunch of crooks ever, always in bed with some lobbying group or industry bloc but at least they were smart.

The current crop have grown up with those as their peers, at who they look to for advice and education. Match that with the increasing inequality from rampant capitalism where the rewards are far higher in private industry rather than public service and you end up with a bunch of second raters taking advice from a bunch of crooks.

And that's how we get to where we are now, as the excellent James Mercer would say.

The reason i won't be voting is that i have no confidence in the system anymore. What has happened in the last 2 years has just enforced that opinion. My local MP couldn't run a market stall in Camden. The whole house is a venomous cesspit without any venom. Run by a speaker who wouldn't be lost in Tom Browns Schooldays. Not one single MP in the house could, or should be PM.

You obviously (just like donny) missed the above

i really think folk should continue to vote for what they want, ...sometimes
takes a few goes, and we cant all have what we want.

but cant give up !

Another thread which sums up the current mentality which has sadly increased in the last 2-3 years. An MP is quite clearly abused but instead of being concerned at this behaviour the OP decides the MP is at fault and the 'protesters' have done nothing wrong. At least 50 MP's have expressed their concern at how abuse is widening and getting more concerning. Perhaps the OP should be reminded that it wasn't so long ago that an MP was brutally murdered. Very sad how hateful behaviour has become acceptable to many people.

Yep, he will be doing well to pull through that.
I was only jokingly saying on another thread that it is hard to tell when approaching a leftie whether they will offer you their hand, scream abuse at you or swing at you with a lump hammer.
The latter seems to have been Herr Magnitz fate.
Many a true word is spoken in jest.Sad

Germany: Left-wing violence and extremism on the rise
June 20, 2018

BERLIN (AP) — German security officials say left-wing extremists have become more willing to use violence over the past five years.

Figures released by the domestic intelligence agency BfV on Wednesday show the number of left-wing extremists whom authorities consider potentially violent rose 27 percent from 7,100 to about 9,000 between 2012 and 2017.

The number of violent crimes committed by left-wing extremists rose 88 percent during that period, to 1,648 from 876.

Last year saw a spike in left-wing violence partly due to the G-20 summit in Hamburg. The rise of the far-right Alternative for Germany has also given left-wing extremists a new target in recent years.

BfV chief Hans-Georg Maassen called for more public debate about the need to reject violence as a means of achieving political ends.

LOL Lesley Riddoch the left wing Scottish Nationalist journalist is on Politics Live and is clearly refusing to condem the agressive abuse given out to Farage in Scotland :)

Biased BBC as usual. 12 o clock news summary didn't mention the right wing German politican beaten almost to death yet it's been all over the newspapers for hourse. The've spent 15-20 minutes discussing politicians being harrassed etc, the very subject area of the German story, no mention. How can they possibly do that?. It would be 1.01 if say a Democrat politician in the US has been beaten to a pulp and the attacker was likely a Trump supporter, it would be a headline item with much coverage, probably main story!

sky the same

all about a salmon in a place called scot land -

They have raise the hounds and are making a huge racket about this
ANOTHER CRISIS - deflect us away from the fact that mps no longer listen to people

then on and on with a Labour mp saying the group had threatened violence against soubry

then there is a story about a MOOSE  I do not joke!!!

no half dead german MP story - maybe they are saving up the outrage for the 6pm news

Yip Politics Live managed to discuss intimidation of politicians for more than 20 minutes without once mentioning a right wing politician (who they openly despise) being beaten to a pulp by presumably a left wing or "peaceful" attacker, in Germany, when it's been covered across other media all day so they sure as hell know about it. So stereotpically BBC.
