Sir Billy Connolly has said sorry for "depressing" fans after describing his life as "slipping away".
The Glasgow-born comedian made the comments during a BBC documentary about his life with Parkinson's disease. However, his wife Pamela Stephenson posted a video on her Twitter account showing Sir Billy playing a banjo and saying: "Not dying, not dead, not slipping away". that would be right up Billys street JC. |

With respect, those who aren't fans of the great man would be better served staying away from any associated threads.

He's uncle singing the songs at the family parties, that nobody could ever understand.
and hes aunt who sang so high pitched, that it sounded like somebody playing a saw. ![]() ![]() ![]() 1st time poster, there are stand up comedians i don't think are funny, like, Lennie Henry (CHIP SHOULDER) Rickie Gervais,(Great writer, 5hit stand up) Lee Evans,( excellent actor, Norman Wisdom stand up) Ben Elton, (without the tories, wouldnt have an act) Stephen K AMOS, (STRAIGHT AND WHITE, WOULD BE WORKING IN ASDA) all women comedians.. But Billy Connolly is F uc king funny. |

By:

One of my fav childhood memories was camping out in the lates 70s with some pals and playing a recording of The Crucifixion (I taped it from an LP) on a little mini cassette player.
You've never heard laugher like it, in absolute hysterics - we must have kept the whole street up most of the night ![]() |
By:
that's just it isn't it, Platini, you don't just smile or laugh at this man; you roll around the damn floor having a coronary! Because he's a storyteller the 'joke' is never ending. It's like being on the waltzers and you thinking it's all ending; and then the bastard spins again!

yeah your dead right bap.

Spot on Bap, brilliant description

Ben Elton was pretty bad at standup, but he was a writer for some of the most excellent Blackadder (and the young one) so I forgive him, he's doing something right.
Unlike many unfunny b&stards these days... |
By:
Agree totally JC - wrote much better than he could deliver
By:
Never found BC funny, even more so after the Bigley "joke". WAC
By:
probs the biggest conman in comedy history, never said anything funny,he finds himself hilarious and the audience joins in
By:
agree never like his comedy
By:
I can see both sides of the coin regarding his comedy. I have seen him live twice and the second time I actually walked out at the interval and didn't come back as basically I was bored. Also as kenny mann has already mentioned, his " Ken Bigley comedy routine" was beyond repugnant, totally unnecessary and deeply offensive.
By:
Kenneth Williams and Peter Ustinov.
That's what I would call a brilliant raconteur. BC doesn't come within a country mile. |

The Ken Bigley comment was strange in that it wasn't normal in his act to attack people like that other than Pastor Jack Glass who campaigned outside his venues shouting for God to strike him down.
He also had a running spat with a daily record columnist (think it was Joan Burnie) who used to lambast him whenever he appeared on the tv. Yep whilst it was a really crass comment I don't think it defines him. |
By:
Did he ever apologise ?
By:
well done, going back 14 years to find a bad taste joke he made.
Its comedy. I know we live in a society where we're increasingly not allowed to offend, but comics above all, should be exempt from that. |
By:
laughable (or maybe not) isn't it Platini. The holier than though attitude that's today's mess. And whatever you think of that particular comment, it still doesn't make him not funny, that would be down to someones attitude about the person - not the humour he protrudes
By:
Well said Bap.

By:
bap/deucy please post a clip of bc that you think is one of his best
By:
rommel; there wouldn't be much point would there? Anyone who doesn't find him funny or more importantly dislikes him; will not be convinced by any clip i, or AD puts up on here.
By:
agreed, there wouldn't be any point at all. If would be like me asking a Ricky Gervais fan to post a funny clip of him - no matter what, I would't find it funny .

comedy is like music, we've all got our own tastes, and we're fiercely loyal to our favs, and total snobs about it
