What's your favourite film?

The Hunt For Red October

the cu m busters

Not a big film watcher at all but my favourite is the Hitchcock film - Rope.

By chance, 1 of the 2 worst I've seen is on TV tonight - The counsellor. The fifth element is the other.

Shawshank.

Real hard question, changes with mood and time.

Probably One Who Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest.

Then

Donnie Darko

Groundhog Day,  anyone seen it?

the great escape

Fight club and American history X

Just re-watched fight club on W, dan. It still confuses me.

American History is in my top 10.

Papillon.....Hey, you bastards, I'm still here!

Schindler's List......Oskar Schindler: Hey, hey, what are you doing?! These are my workers; they should be on my train!

Pulp Fiction for me, one of those films you wish was twice as long
Lawrence of Arabia, Forrest Gump also in the mix.

Pulp Fiction is on now Comedy Central

one of my fav films is about to start

The Usual Suspects

great movie , starring he who shall not be named anymore

Unforgiven

I'm not much of a film person .... But love this film. Clint Eastwood at his best

the good, the bad and the ugly,
a fistfull of dollars
for a few dollars more

how the hell can you pick one film? I'd be here all night & the rest of the weekend

This sounds good:

Julia Roberts is due to commence filming her new movie in January.

It is a biopic about a woman so obsessed with rock and pop that she would always have a music magazine by her bedside so she could read if she woke during the night.

An studio insider has informed me that it will be entitled "Sleeping With The NME".

A film that touches me on a very personal level
Is The Night Of The Hunter, which was directed by
Charles Laughton in 1955 .The very great Lilian
Gish is wonderful in it .

Was watching the Denzel Washington film Deja Vu earlier this evening, when I suddenly had this funny feeling that I'd never seen it before.

May favourite is Once Upon A Time In The West.

Fuji, generally better colours,

kes

JAWS - No film hit my like that on first viewing and a brilliant rewatch ever since, the sequels spoil its legacy though, 3 and 4 should be never seen again yet ITV show them every week lol

Rock Star. If you spent life in the 80's going to see rock/metal bands, when rock ruled the World, you will love this. You live it

This Happy Breed

I added 'Rock Star' to my watchlist several months ago. Good to see a recommendation of it and may just give it a go now.

btw, if pumphol reads this... I watched 'The Spanish Prisoner' that you recommended. Very intriguing and will definitely give it a second watch to help tidy a few loose ends in my head.

maybe The Spy who came in from the cold

or The Right Stuff

Rock Star has best soundtrack to a film alonside Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure, which I've never got round to watching even though someone gave me the DVD as a present. The film is based on a true story, which I won't spoil for you, but Steel Dragon's Blood Pollution, Stand Up And Shout and best of all Livin' The Life are right up there with best rock/metal anyone has ever done. Shame there's no such band

That's A fine choice , lfc1971 .I always remember the scene were the actor , Richard Burton , goes into the shop to buy a tin of peaches .

The Jungle Book(1967)

How are you keeping , my friend , lfc ?

yes culvin , think Burton was superb in that film , liked the ending also

Pulp Fiction is great and another film I found absorbing and disturbing was Sicario. Would like to watch that again along with the sequel.

okey doke thanks

A Magical choice , sofia , you lovely man .

That makes too of us then in okey dokey land , i'm glad to say .

Doing ok culvin , same as yourself I would think , pretty much : )

I'm aware you can only have one chice but i would like to give honourable mentions to other films . Films like A Tree Grows In Brooklyn . A beautiful little film made in 1945 by Elia Kazan and starring , the wonderful Peggy Ann Garner . I bought it yesterday from ebay , for a mere £2.50 .

Well lets hope that we both continue to do ok , because ok is just fine by me .

Thanks for the update McCoy, I'll give feedback when viewed.

If any of you are looking for cheap videos then try Music Magpie... most DVD's (used) are around £1.99... FREE POSTAGE!

Clare Bloom , leamus ( Burton ) goes back to die beside her on the east side of the wall ,
it’s a a spy story and very beautiful
any sensitive person would agree , I love those old Cold War films

I need to go out in a moment to buy some cigars to enjoy as i drink a fine glass of port or too later and i wish you could join me , Sir and we could drink a toast together to us all and to all who are no longer here but remain in our hearts , forever more .Take Care , lfc1971 ,Goodbye .

but then maybe he doesn’t die , you would have to watch the film if you haven’t seen it

Of those old cold war films , it is by far the best , i think .

Zulu

Thanks culvin , all the best for the new year to you

YES , ive seen it a number of times .

Thanks lfc , i wish All Best to you too .

My father took myself and my twin brother to see Zulu in a cinema in Birkenhead , and what a very exciting film to experience for two young boys .

James Booth was very good in that film .

I think it may also have been the great Jack Hawkins last film .

Cigars , cigars , cafe creme cigars , i come for you .

That is an absolute masterpiece of a film mecca and I would have that as my second choice. If I only could one film again though I would choose 'Oh Brother Where Art Thou?"

"Damn we're in a tight spot!"

..could *watch* one film..

Kurosawa`s - The Seven Samurai.

at last an aficionado

Once upon a time in America fantastic film and soundtrack, Ennio Morricone.

& another

Baphornet , I can't spell that afi...... word without the help of google but , yes i think i know and appreciate good cinema . I love old hollywood films like Sunset Boulevard ,Gone with the wind , etc. I even love and watch silent films , starring actors like the great John Barrymore .

Once Upon A Time In The West

Withnail and I
This Is Spinal Tap

Garde A Vue

Withnail and I ,Good choice, Hanx . Many years ago in Liverpool i was studying acting and one of the actors who turned up to to act scenes from Macbeth with us was  Ralph Brown , who played the character Danny in that brilliant british film .

1. This Happy Breed
2. The Duellists
3. La Reine Margot

Best ....Papillon

Worst ...Birdman

Miller's Crossing

Casablanca by a nose from Cuckoos Nest

dunlaying knows his stuff. I love Lino Ventura films. He makes Depardieu look like a drunk Macaulay Culkin

Inglorious Basterds.

Condorman

Why Condorman didn't sweep the board at the 1981 Oscars , I'll never know .

The Counterfeiters... Blinding Nazi propaganda film

Indeed Culvin, some of Michael Crawford's best work

this is spinal tap ( bumped into the drummer in a bar( oxford st bar )  in missoula ,montana, dont look for it, its not there anymore) )

Without hesitation it's OFOTCN for me but when Mrs Fooks goes out there's one of 3 films I normally watch (you wouldn't believe the number of times I've seen them)

The Commitments
Tommy
Once

The lives of others.....best German film ever..

Also the counterfeiters, Lenin is dead and days boot

morpteh , Along with The Life of Brian , Spinal Tap is the funniest film ive ever seen .

tap is magnificent, god knows how many times have seen it, so when bumped into drummer ( ric parnell, son of jack parnell ) was like a dog with 2 c ocks. sat chatting at bar for about 2 hours.

Blade Runner

Always thought Kramer Vs Kramer as my favourite film however IRREVERSIBLE is probably the best.

A_T , Blade Runner is my twin brothers fave film .
