I recall reading that call centres like to employ staff with a Geordie accent because research has shown that people respond better to it.
Also, did you know that 75% of 18-25 year olds in Newcastle voted to remain in the EU?

Have always said whenever a Geordie speaks on telly they sound as thick as pig sh!t cringeworthy hearing the accent,be very surprised if there's a genuine lust for blokes with Geordie accents think Aileen is taking the pi$$ meself.

geordie accents, although sometimes unfathamable to the untrained ear, are softer, more melodic and interesting to listen to. Wonder if this accent was influenced by the scando invasions in that region.

even those from newcastle find some nearby accents to sound odd and thick.

I'm South London born and bred but Dublin aside, Newcastle and Gateshead are where I go the most to see my family and mates and of course Palace away, 6th of April is my next visit and will stay for 4 days. Anyway, my point is this, never have I been to a place that is so friendly and welcoming and I love my visits to the Toon. No doubt we will all go to Newcastle dogs after the football, get a bit mashed of course and can't wait to spend time up there again. 7 pints, a few bags of crisps in a pub right by St James's Park (sorry Denzil I can't remember which one) and got change from a score!! Jobsagoodun

I moved up here from London 2 years ago. Wish I'd done it sooner. I do struggle to understand some of the locals though, namely the older ones who have clearly never left the city limits! Younger folks tend to have softer accents, but I think that's the case nationwide these days.

Last night I alighted at Bow Church, drank at the wonderful Bow Bells Pub and watch some Association Football in Stratford.
(I do have a soft spot for Geordies though.)

Best way to learn Geordie is via viz, and the likes of "Eight Ace" and "Sid the Sexist".
They should give free copies out to immigrants as they arrive.
