Gao Chenyong killed 11 women/girls beween 1988 and 2002. He was caught in 2016 (DNA) and recently executed. I'd be fascinated to know why he stopped. With the original Jack the Ripper it's assumed the killings stopped because he died, was arrested for something else or moved away. Here, you have someone who didn't do any of that but suddenly stopped killing afer 14 years. I wonder why.
A serial killer dubbed China's 'Jack the Ripper' who raped and murdered 11 female victims - the youngest aged just eight - has been executed today.
Gao Chengyong, 54, slaughtered women and girls in China's Gansu and Inner Mongolia regions between 1988 and 2002, sexually assaulting his victims before cutting their throats and removing their reproductive organs.
After evading justice for 30 years, he was found guilty of rape, murder and dishonouring corpses by a court in the northwest city of Baiyin, Gansu province in March last year, and sentenced to death.
The court which handed him the death sentence announced today that the it had been carried out after approval from China's supreme court.

I have had a look and it does seem strange.
He was from Japan, but went to France to study and while there killed and ate a fellow female student.
He was arrested and tried for this but was found 'insane' and sentenced to be indefinitely detained in a mental institution.
But the French transferred him to a Japanese Mental Institution who found him sane and released him.
So he effectively escaped any punishment
Worse still he traded on his notoriety and has written books, appeared in films, and generally done very well out of his
appalling crime.
It was definitely a failure and miscarriage of justice as you say Pokermonster...he is still alive today under the care of his brother
