Or  does  he  mean these types of incidents are  Rare  on  New  Years Day,he  needs to be  more specific.
I know our Police force have a very hard time and work under a lot of pressure, but you cannot lie about what the public know.

An extraordinary and brazen falsehood from the Police. They seem completely unaware of the 'industrial scale' rape of sexually-underaged white girls and young women in the Lancashire Constabulary area itself, let alone Britain as a whole. The most routine of Google searches quickly exposes rape gangs across a wide range of Lancashire towns. 

The Home Office should immediately step in, suspending anyone involved in drafting this astonishing and ludicrous 'reassuring' statement. They are clearly unfit to be employed in their current capacity.

If I was a 'Defence' lawyer, I would be looking to re-open any prosecutions and 'Guilty' verdicts in cases involving police staff responsible for making this utterly absurd public statement.

We are just 2 days into 2019, and already the Police departments of North West England are looking completely out of touch with reality.

When a police officer puts out a statement like that I think it is time the public take note. Can anyone still remember what happened when representatives of banks issued a similar statement eg Northern Rock, Bradford and Bingley, RBS, etc?

You guys are missing the point. An average human is going to see a day like the New year's day only once a year, let's say about 60-70 times in his lifetime. TO be then raped on that same day, i'd say the probability will be much much lower. Probably that's what the police is referring to.

On a more serious note, the police and the government are adjusting very well to the reality. The public is not, but that won't matter with the demographics. One day, all of a sudden, it will be too late.

Plod asked for the public's help but refused to give out descriptions. So how exactly are people supposed to help then...?

Ethnic and Nationality sensistivities are not important in identification.

The police are there to CATCH CRIMINALS and that is hard enough, do not increase their burden.

No news in just yet about the levels of tanning of 'the suspect' in the fatal stabbing in broad daylight on a train at Horsley Station in Surrey today.

Dont the authorities, politicians etc etc see the more and more they continue to try to brush things under the carpet the more likely it is to lead to large scale civil unrest. Some on here seem to focus on certain minorities regarding rape. For me all rapists are n0unces and need to be banged up, so if the perpetrator is white, Asian, black or Chinese etc etc I want an accurate description

I agree. I think authorities ought to be more specific about the description of suspect/assailant. For instance the perpetrators of grooming vulnerable young white girls; cash for crash; nail bar slavery; knife crimes; online fraud; etc.

If the main perpetrators of the above crimes were made known the general public and possible victims would be more aware and careful in the future. I believe the political correctness has been overdone and counterproductive, and is a dis-service to the general public at present.

I think sex and/or violent  criminals can come from all races or religions.

If there a preponderance from any one race/religion....this is a problem society
