i have always loved the way this girl plays tennis; but she has suffered a lot with injuries over the last couple of years. Slowly making her way back up the rankings & played well towards the end of last season. Won the Hopman cup with Federer last January & is now (today) starting their defence of it. Looked a bit podgy to me all through the summer but now looks lean & mean. I foresee an excellent year ahead for the Swiss lady if she stays injury free.

well there was a classic film star called Joan Crawford; who had a look that could stop trains. The maddest eyes i've ever seen on a woman, Till Aileen popped along that is. There was also a lady pirate who Aileen is going as tonight (at my request) called Cheng I Sao. She was a real vixen & had a ferocious stare. My Aileen will be wonderful in the role

I thought that she might struggle physically, and she did.
However, she is clearly made of strong stuff. Despite the distressed behaviours when her coach spoke to her, she was able to take his words on board.

i backed her in the final of Auckland last November against Georges where she won the 1st set & then faded after some tough matches getting there. I feared the same was going to happen here when she had an injury break; but she's made of teak
Will be interesting how she now copes with the inevitable increase in media and sponsor attention.
Indian Wells is probably the 6th biggest tournamnt after the slams and WTA end of season finals, but very big and she beat 3 players odds against to win in last 3 rounds.

i think she will be fine; there's something about her that other teens don't have.
Federer sitting pretty already against Thiem, a break up at 3-0 in the first.
I usually like to see how things settle before committing. You'll need to hope he makes Federer serve it out and can front run in the second.

i was trying to think of what makes her different from some of the other 'protégés' the other day. I finally realised it was her demeanour when down in her service game. When some others head would drop when game point or love 30 down, Bianca just shrugs her shoulders & virtually demands the ball for the next serve. Iv'e not seen guts like hers since Martina
