Well as an American I think it's a fxxking disgrace. You dont just walk away from your allies. The Peshmerga who have done a lot of the hard fighting on the ground often alongside US special forces are being sold out. The French who are still there are know suddenly weakened. Now dont get me wrong I wish American troops had not been left there after the conflicts be it Afghanistan, Iraq or Syria. I would much prefer get in achieve objective and then go. Not only am I American, I served aboard a US Navy submarine during the cold war in the eighties. My father is a retired Army Colonel with two purple hearts to his name. My son currently serves in the US Marine corps. So with all due respect who's opinion should our fellow chit chatters listen too, me or you ?

It is the countries leaders who decide who the enemies are, the soldier just do their duty.


There are people who have a conscientious objection to wars, this is difficult.

Although I think these people are brave to do it, considering what they will have thrown at them.

If one's unit comes under attack one is obliged to pick up a weapon and start killing the enemy.

If one does not do that, one endangers one comrades, which is the worst betrayal of all.

Volunteer Forces are the only way to go for me. Look how the Argentinian army crumbled at the last knockings. As a volunteer you know and accept what your signing up for.

I do not think the argies had their heart in it.
We had a professional army with the Paras and Marines leading.

But if we were to have a war like WW1 and WW2 then volunteers would not provide enough men.
Then conscription is applied and all men will hhave to fight in one way or another.

The United States did not have enough volunteers for Vietnam did they, they had to conscript.

Not everybody wanted to go to Vietnam. They were having to fight in hard conditions for Europeans.

In the future, we will not be what we are now.  People will also be very confused about what they are.  It is happening now.
