Birds of prey (and other sorts) are always flying about, presumably occasionally near airports.  They don't shut the fkg airport; they just plough straight through them.

Everything about this story stinks.  Feel so sorry for anyone affected.  Gatwick is an awful place at the best of times.  Inconvenient to get to no matter where you live, terrible transport links, overcrowded, treated like a terrorist to get through security, then forced to walk through the ghastly shopping areas only to be jammed into the zoo of the departure lounge.  Then when your gate comes up it's a half hour walk to some distant satellite hub.  And to make it worse, you have the reverse journey to look forward to on your return.   Being there for 2 hours is bad enough, but 36...

Police have today been slammed for their 'appalling investigation' into the Gatwick chaos after they held a married couple for nearly two days without charge before admitting 'there may never have been a drone.' 

Paul and Elaine Kirk-Gait returned to their home in Crawley, West Sussex this morning after spending more than 36 hours being questioned by detectives over the device that brought Gatwick Airport to a standstill.

As the culprit remains at large five days after the attack which grounded more than 1,000 flights and 14,000 passengers, police have been accused of failing to interview colleagues who could have vouched for the couple's whereabouts.

Friends and family repeatedly insisted the pair were not the 'Eco-warriors' behind the attack and claimed officers under pressure to get results 'hastily' arrested the wrong couple.  

As Sussex Police this afternoon confirmed they have found a 'damaged drone' close to Gatwick, Detective Chief Superintendent Jason Tingley said there was 'no available footage and they are relying on witness accounts.'

It is however entirely possible that there was information received in relation to a major terror alert . The was a terror alert at a German airport at almost the same time which resulted in the German airport being put on shut down . With Brexit looming and the possibility of a second referendum (peoples vote) each and every major terror threat plays into the hands of Brexiteers and may have the effect of steering people more towards wanting out of the EU and taking back control of our borders . A majority of those who hold power within the establishment are Remainers (allegedly) and their prime objective is to block Brexit at all costs .
Before you all come down on me like a ton of bricks , the above is just an example of a motive . There are many more that are just as bizarre . But before you shoot me down in flames just think back over the last 3 days and ask yourself the following :-
Which bodies have been the peddlars of mistruths throughout this whole debacle ?
Where is the evidence to back up the reports ?
Why arrest and detain two apparently innocent people if not to shift the emphasis of the investigation away from its main location .
And most significantly (in my opinion) , why release a statement within the first hour of the shut down stating "This is not terror related" when , after 72 hours , they are still no nearer to identifying the 'perpetrators' , if indeed there are any 'perpretrators' ?
It was this statement that raised my suspicions on Friday morning and nothing that has unfolded subsequently has altered my view .

Was the "damaged" drone shown to the media? Surely, a vital piece of "evidence" or an (only) item connected with this debacle must be made available to the media and public for "support" and vindication. Or was it a story concocted to placate the public and validate their efforts in the search for the elusive drone.

yesterday the police said it was of limited use for evidence because of weather conditions etc, which suggests it didn't fall out of the sky recently,100 sightings,1000,s of police, army, security services, 2 millions worth of tracking gear but we,re led to believe a drone fell from the sky like a butterfly and wasn't seen ,detected by anyone in the vicinity,must be a million the drone was one of those involved if any drone was involved

One can see stars and their cousins a few thousands miles into the sky with a powerful telescope. How could it be possible no definitive id of a drone (video, etc) available despite so many sightings over two days at least? Did no one think this could prove helpful to determine id of the sightings? Surely, Gatwick Airport and authorities concerned could easily obtained  telescope for this purpose.

Maybe there truly was no drone being flown on those nights, but merely ufo that looked like "drones" from afar, or inexperienced or dodgy eyes of drink induced individuals.

I do have an explanation for the supposed drone incident but am too p!ssed to go into it except to say that

in the military there are automatic responses to a sighting or a report which one reacts to IMMEDIATELY.

I am assuming the police do like wise and so do quasi military/similar, like airport authorities, and personnel, respond in a similar manner - hence the EXTREME c()ck up if you follow.

They then have to try and justify their actions and people within the organisation will attempt to do that. 

But quite honestly this must be one of the best over reaction upc()ks for ages.
