From Boston, when I made a thread on this a few weeks ago, some one said the ticket may have been lost in the Wash, joke worth repeating imoGrin

Kept it in his van, lucky his van wasn't stolen. Far more chance of that than getting the lucky numbers!

Why do people go public, now he will have to put up with millions of pleading letters from people he doesn't know, makes no sense.

They can't seem to help it. I think some are so excited they don't think. I would hope the lottery company give advice as such but that would mean no publicity for them.
Report scandanavian_haven • December 21, 2018 7:25 PM GMT
suppose camelot coerce him into doing it, great publicity for them, ordinary joe wins big, it could me too, sort of thing.

Is that true, or an urban myth? If it is true, he can afford to hire a secretary to screen his mail. There are loads of people that everyone knows are rich -- footballers, celebrities and so on. Do they get plagued? I'd have thought a bigger problem would be your family asking for money but most people will want to take care of their families anyway.

And that's the trouble. You win the lottery, you tell your family and your best mate, and swear them to secrecy but as the old chestnut has it, a secret is something you tell everybody, one person at a time. Pretty soon everyone who knows you will know about your win, so you might as well have let Camelot announce it.

76 million isn't THAT much to hide, you just need a diversionary tactic to detract from the real huge elephant in the room.

It's why I always stuff a distracting cucumber and pair of socks down the LEFT side of my tight jeans. THEN nobody suspects.

(Joke so bad Russell brand is probably now copywriting it :)).

It's a lottery win, people always feel like they're entitled to have some or ask for some money from lottery winners, so different from people that have worked for it. People with the local vicinity all knowing is one thing - the whole country knowing is something different.

Half of the Top 10 biggest ever UK jackpots winners are anonymous, I don't know who they are, nor does anyone reading this, and they decided to stay anonymous for a reason, much less hassle.
