i've tried those air fryers but they just don't cut it. Had to buy another deep fat monster to get my chip fix

A couple of times I've tried the famous "Harry Ramsden's" chips and been disappointed. Soapy and yellowy and .. pretty much any other local chipper is normally better than that, imho. Totally not worth the hype.

You cannot get a great chip from raw tatties, if you have it hot enough to brown em outside, the middle is raw. Can't agree about oven chips, one of the few top branded things I buy. McCains Home Chips are excellent in a hot oven, and Aunt Bessies are a decent runner up.
