This really should be an issue that unites left and right. Without free speech we are a shell of a country.

As someone once said, its the totalitarian tiptoe, step by step reducing freedom of speech, re-categorising crimes, filtering the news, and introducing censorship.

It is HUGELY ongoing and we need to turn this ship around. Even if you are WRONG you should be allowed free speech, as long as you are not deliberately LYING, which is a very different thing.

I mean even I was wrong once. A few years ago I rememember telling my mate down the pub that if the country voted for something, politicians and the "elite" and event illuminati would accept it. And did they, after that all important poll? Biggest ever?

How does this align with your support for a man that calls the free press the enemies of the people and calls for punishment for free citizens that express their right to protest for their rights peacefully?

We've been going backwards in this respect for a couple of decades.

The UK is certainly not the land of the free as far as speech is concerned.

I certainly avoid having anything to do with people who enjoy extra protection from the law.

If you mix with public servants these days, you'll notice how guarded they are when they find themselves in a group discussing certain subjects.

They simply do not pass any comment all in most cases, for fear of losing their jobs if their words get to the wrong ears.

Yes the organisers of the poll totally underestimated the puerile and childish sense of humour
of those that voted
..but for all that they should have stood by the choice


A sense of humour is not a bad thing, helps lighten reality at times

Humour is not a bad thing, sometimes we need it to lighten up our lives, stops us getting too serious about things

Something I like about forums and chat rooms is people can express a view that they would not otherwise be able to

There probably have to be some limits but we should keep them to a minimum I feel


I also find a lot of people who complain about trolling, more than often deserve it, although of course there have to be some limits

eddy, if you're talking about Trump, you're wide of the mark.
