Two people have been killed and 11 others wounded in a shooting in the eastern French city of Strasbourg.

The gunman, known to security services, is on the run and is being hunted by police. He had been injured in an exchange of gunfire with a soldier, police said.

The shooting happened close to a Christmas market in one of the central squares, Place Kléber.

Seven of the injured are said to be in a serious condition.

Truly incredible scenes.

The suspect has been on police/security radar for years, is known in the community as a security risk and he is accused of murder and mayhem in Strasbourg. Yet he is STILL at large?  The only logical explanation is that he is being protected by persons sympathetic to his action.

This is like the 2016 Brussels bombings all over again, whereby some of the perpetrators swanned around the "Peace-Loving Religious Community' ghettoes with impunity for months. hiding in plain sight, protected by those who fully supported their terrorism.

The beleaguered President Macron seemingly gone into hiding as well.

France is sick and tired of having their streets hijacked by Islamic Terrorists and other sympathetic criminals. They need a leader who prefers to turn the full power of the state against these Peace-Lovers, instead of people in yellow vests who couldn't pull the skin off a rice pudding.

Imagine if there was an EU army. A force that could follow this guy irrespective of which borders he crossed, without needing to communicate with each coutry's police force. I am pretty sure that is where we are headed. And the government will not mind incidents like these here and there,as these will eventually help them exert more control over the general public. 

The public always responds to these events in the same way - anti-islamic comments, whining about the 'suspect was known to police' statement that comes out every time, talking about how the media is covering it, open borders and a few comments here and there about Merkel, Macron, May or even Brexit. Are we reacting to this differently than we did to Brussels, Nice, Berlin etc etc? Probably not. I don't see any difference to the public's reaction, which is why its useless to think that these things will change. As i mentioned above, these incidents will be the fuel for more government control, and the current generation will happily take up arms to defend Europe from a problem created by its own politicians. One could see that during the refugee crisis. Many don't even see it now. And many haven't yet realized that they are powerless, just like the public in most of the remaining countries of the world.

Strasbourg Christmas market shooter, Cherif Chekatt, has reportedly been shot dead by police during an armed raid.

Chekatt was said to have been shot dead during a police operation, which was confirmed by several police sources, reports FranceInfo.

Reports on social media suggested there had been shots fired in the Neudorf area of Strasbourg where a manhunt was underway.

It was then reported he had been shot, but it was not clear if the suspected terrorist had been gunned and captured alive by French police.

Police were scouring the French-German border for a car belonging to the mother of Chekatt amid fears he has fled eastwards in her vehicle.

He has a history of arrests in Germany and police searches have now spread across the border.

The German newspaper Bild reported that police were on guard across the German border for a French numberplate on a Ford belonging to Chekatt's mother, in which he could have fled the country.

Swiss police are also said to have increased their security amid fears he was fleeing across Europe.

It comes as heavily armed police swooped on the Neudorf neighbourhood of Strasbourg on Thursday amid a massive manhunt for Christmas market shooter Cherif Chekatt.

Police cars blocked a street as officers carrying rifles and dressed in body armour gathered in the neighbourhood where Chekatt was dropped off by a taxi driver following his bloody rampage on Tuesday.

As officers searched for the killer it emerged that they had found jihadist literature at his apartment, as well as a grenade, a loaded rifle and four knives.

On Thursday Le Parisien also revealed that, during a prison stay in 2008, Chekatt hung a picture of 9/11 mastermind Osama bin Laden on his wall.

Chekatt killed three people and wounded 12 during an attack on the city's Christmas Market before fleeing when he was shot through the shoulder.

One French police official said security forces, including the elite Raid squad, were taking action on Thursday based on a 'supposition only' that Chekatt, a serial criminal, could be hiding in a nearby building.

This evening police ended their search in Neudorf without finding the killer, but as darkness fell officers continued to scour the nearby Meinau neighbourhood and the Plaine des Bouchers area.

Police also arrested a member of Chekatt's 'entourage' today, believed to be a friend who had served time with him in prison, after the killer's parents and two brothers were earlier taken into custody.

I no longer  take any of this propaganda seriously  from the authorities around this sort of subject. In fact I usually sneer and/or laugh at the sheer incompetence and the attempts to cover up anything related to this group.

This is the thing about islamic terrorism that makes it so attractive for governments to use as a controlling tool. Either the perpetrator dies in the act, or you kill him later. In both cases, you can make up any story you want and the public buys it. They could literally have sent this guy to Fiji and blamed Fiji for providing him safe haven. And then invaded Fiji. Would you have asked questions?

I also noticed his victims were an afghan, a thai tourist, and a retired man(who may or may not have been a native). With our demographic issues it might be becoming hard for them to find and kill the natives.
