By just over two million voters. Scotland didn't vote to leave yet there are just under four million people of voting age. They have 35 MP's. In the last election UKIP got over four million votes yet not one MP.
In each constituency in UK, voters within each constituency vote to elect a MP to represent them in the UK Parliament. Whoever gets the most votes heads to Westminster, regardless of how many people live in each constituency. It's called democracy.

I wouldn't disagree with that either Hank. Proportional Representation is not the answer though. Look what happened in Germany in the thirties. FPTP has always been the UK system and it won't change in our lifetime.

lol at you're inference that PR caused WW2, they've had Proportional Representation for the last few decades and it doesn't seem to harm them much now.

At present, the UK uses the "first past the post" system to elect MPs to the House of Commons. Should the "alternative vote" system be used instead?
68% voted no
There was a referendum in 2011 regarding PR:At present, the UK uses the "first past the post" system to elect MPs to the House of Commons. Should the "alternative vote" system be used instead?68% voted no
I used to be very pro PR out of principle but I'm more of a pragmatist these days. List systems are a disaster.
Look at the sort of worthless pillocks that get in there on the list vote, the balance of power is held by the whacko, never worked in their lives, marxist green headcases on a small number of votes spread over a large area...
The better system is a recounting preference system but we stupidly got rid of moving towards that (I voted for it a few years ago).
Preference makes total sense "Like him, they are ok I could live with it, they can f**k right off". It matches how we think.

in a true democracy the people should be offered a choice to change their mind if they wish?they have not got an offer for this by the government since it was discovered that a lot of spin took place in the build up to the last brexit vote, and a lot of people feel cheated because of the spin.

To be fair the Tory party were not intending to take us out of Europe
It was Farage and UKIP pushed for this.
Cameron feared he would lose too many votes to UKIP and Labour would get back in.
So Cameron offered us a referendum, so people did not need to vote for the UKIP, hoping to persuade us to stay....he did not.

i agree, but its my own opinion that a lot of people voted for all sorts of different reasons and nobody knew the real facts that unfolded over the brexit vote,at the moment the UK have somehow got themselves in a position of Hobson's choice,1=do we shoot ourselves in the foot ?or 2= do we shoot ourselves in the head?.someone needs to step in before next Tuesday and stop the government vote going ahead ,because its result will be Theresa's deal or NO deal and a NO deal will result in no jobs,no food,no medicine,no oil,no internet,no gas,no trade,no banks, and riots on the streets,as time moves on and people realize the consequences of a NO deal which is a 1.01 in the betting.IMVHO

I am sure another referendum would result in us staying in the EU.
But I would not change my vote, I would still vote out.
I agree it is a bit scary at the moment, but I think Parliament must pass May's del.
Long term I think it will benefit us having control of immigration, we won't stop it all, but we will have choice.
Being an Island makes it easier for us than the rest of the EU I think.
Although if we go, others could follow?

But the biggest deception is this: we could easily have taken back control of our borders already under European Parliament and Council Directive 2004/38/EC, which allows EU member states to repatriate EU nationals after three months if they have not found a job or do not have the means to support themselves.
