A babysitter who killed three children and impaled their bodies on garden railings has been cleared for release.
David McGreavy was sentenced to life in 1973 for killing Paul Ralph, four, and his sisters Dawn, two, and nine-month-old Samantha in their Worcester home.
Absolutely disgraceful. Imagine being the poor mother...
Millions spent on it over the Past 45 years and now More Money spent Monitoring it if it returns to Society ,incredible

David McGreavy killed Paul Ralph, four, and his sisters Dawn, two, and nine-month-old Samantha in their Worcester home in 1973.
Paul had been strangled, Dawn was found with her throat cut, and Samantha died from a compound fracture to the skull.
McGreavy, now 67, a family friend and lodger, then impaled their bodies on the spiked garden railings of a house in Gillam Street, Rainbow Hill.
He claimed he killed the children because one of them would not stop crying, and was sentenced to life for the murders

A document from the Parole Board about McGreavy’s case referred to a victim personal statement from the victims’ mother, “setting out the devastating effect that these deaths had on her and still do have”.
The document said that over the 45 years in custody, McGreavy has changed “considerably”.
It added: “He has developed self-control, as well as a considerable understanding of the problems that he has had and what caused them.
“The psychologist identified a number of factors which make it less likely that Mr McGreavy will reoffend in future.
“These included his improved self-control and the fact that Mr McGreavy has learnt to remain calm in stressful situations.
“He has also shown himself to be compliant and co-operative with authority, which suggests that he will comply with licence conditions.
“A network of supportive friends in the community was also identified as a protective factor.”....Wow

He's served his time (45 yrs) and is entitled to be released . Given the average life expectancy of approximately 75 , he robbed three children of a total of 218 years of potential life . Added to this the 45 years of happy motherhood for their maternal parent (x3) , the result is that he has served a disproportionate sentence to that of his victims . Incidentally one of the factors that the psychologist identified as reducing the liklihood of his reoffending is the fact that he will not be babysitting three young children . How is this deemed relevant ?

Do you seriously suggest that the lives of more innocent young children are put at risk just because their father is a weak individual of potentially unsound judgement ?
Interesting that the aforementioned psychologist concluded that ".... it is less likely that Mr McGreavy will reoffend in the future" . It is 100% certain that he murdered three infants , therefore it is less than 100% probability that he will commit a similar crime ? I could've worked that out ! It is 100% certain that he committed an offence , therefore it is less than 100% probability that he will commit any further offence ? I could've worked that out ! If the psychologist wasn't referring to the above two scenarios then what was he referring to ? "Less likely" Less likely than the ordinary man or woman in the street to reoffend ? Less likely than than if he remained incarcerated for the remainder of his life ? Less likely than what ffs ?

"He poses no significant threat" ............. Definition of significant required . It definitely isn't "He poses zero threat" , so therefore one can conclude that he does pose a threat , however insignificant that threat may be .

Funny how your attitude changes as you get older, when I was younger I used to think execution was Barbaric and should never be used no matter what the crime....Now 30 Years later I am all for Hanging people like this.

Probably , like the rest of us , you've witnessed through the media , a catalogue of evil over many years that's now deeply ingrained in the memory . Sutcliffe , Venables & Thompson , Nielson , The West's and on a larger scale 9/11 , Manchester Arena , Eniskillen , Bali , Paris etc. The list is , sadly , endless . Mans inhumanity to Man seems to know no boundaries and what seemed before to be a barbaric punishment now pales into insignificance in the light of even more barbaric crimes .

Anyone who can commit such a crime has no compassion, no humanity. Nobody can guarantee that he is no longer presents any danger to children or to the public in general. He should never be released.

salmon spray • December 4, 2018 4:25 PM GMT I think Venables and Thompson might have been hung in the 18th century but not in the last 200 years or thereabouts.
I never said they should have hung . I used them of examples of evil murderers during acey deucy's lifetime whose crimes may have contributed to his changing attitude to capital punishment .

There are some things you can't come back from. This is one of them. My heart goes out to the victims relative.
