.... but I don`t know the full answer.

nothing to do with Africa Mac

WD Timbuctooth. Glenn Close has been nominated seven times but has never won an Oscar.
By:
I was thinking Mungo Park and Richard Burton famous African explorers, but it may be the Welsh actor?
Ted Ray is the hard link. I know that he was an actor and quite a good golfer. Mungo Park played golf I think but Richard Burton doesn`t ring any bells as a golfer. He was a Rugby player I think. Good question pumphol. |

Who is the person born Peter Jeremy William Huggins better known as?
By:
Being a big Sherlock Holmes fan, I know that one Nick - Jeremy Brett.
By:
WD Mac
By:
He was the best Holmes imo. Basil Rathbone was enjoyable in the role but I think Jeremy Brett was the closest to the Holmes described by Conan Doyle. Peter Cushing was fine too but there have been some stinkers.
By:
Some very good questions Nick.
By:
Sorry Mac but I cant accept Cha so you're disqualified. Slippys rules not mine.
As regards Pumphols question all I know about Mungo Park is he was associated with Africa and was Scottish born and a qualified doctor. so struggling. Anything to do with marriages? |

Your almost there Mac They all won the open golf championship Mungo Park 1874 Ted Ray 1912 Richard Burton 1939 |
By:
Great question pumphol. Really had me thinking. Ted Ray and Mungo Park early Open champions of course, but I must admit that I would never have got the Richard Burton golf connection, having never heard of him.
By:
Just lucky that there were three completely different people Mac to the three mentioned whom we know in a completely different guise.
By:
That`s what made a brilliant question pumphol. Threw us entirely off track. I just got lucky making a golf connection. When you told us the answer, I thought right away "Of course"!
Ted Ray featured prominently in the golf movie, "The Greatest Game Ever Played". |
By:
That poses another question. Which famous new wave performer had a cameo role in the film mentioned above?
By:
Just looked that one up tmm. One of the few artists I actually enjoyed listening to during that era

What is the common connection between Lee Marvin, Glen Miller & William Taft
By:
Hi pumps. Something to do with military service?
By:
Hi Nirv, well it sort of has but that's not the connection
By:
Another connection one here
What have Archie Gemill, Sam Allardyce, Tommy Docherty & Bill Shankly all have in common ? |
By:
Buried or, in Miller's case, commemorated in the same place?
By:
Yep you have got it all at Arlington, Taft one one of two US presidents that are buried there.
By:
Ok. JFK being the other of course.
Football one, all played for Preston? |
By:
Which TV series is the following line from:
"Penguins, pelicans and the Inland Revenue have all got one thing in common." "What's that?" "They can all shove their bills up their ar$e." |
By:

Aspro - yes, he was very good and still great live. He is on a UK tour at the moment.
By:
I will admit I haven't seen the film but sounds interesting. Have put it in my Amazon watchlist and will look out for him when I watch it; I know what I'm looking for

Great golf film aspro based on a true story.
It`s funny, I watched the dvd and didn`t notice him. Was at his concert a few months later and he mentioned it to the crowd. Went back and watched again and there he was. ![]() |

There are 25 footballers who have made over 1,000 appearances. How many can you name?
By:
No

Shilton when he was at Orient, I'll let others do the other 24
![]() |
By:
Peter Shilton is top of the list with 1,390 appearances.
By:
Oh Shiltons Orient game would have been his 1000th League game
By:
Yep.
All official appearances. The question refers to players worldwide, btw. |
By:
I just realised that plus must be a few keepers I would have thought
