"Close colleagues of the PM say that on “current numbers” she loses the meaningful vote by “nearly 400”. And yet 'the nutcase' acts and speaks as they she is not about to lose the most important battle of her life. Which begs the question what does she know that the rest of us do not? In the words of a minister “She is not talking to anyone...She is a mystery”. I wonder whether that vote will actually happen on 11 December. Some in her circle think it can’t."

He sounds a bit like me. She knows she's cooked; yet she meanders on. Just what is she up to?

it can't be this, can it?

"I am told by Tory MPs that full force of Conservative Party machine is being mobilised to put pressure on party associations and their respective chairs to put maximum pressure on their respective MPs to back @theresa_may and her Brexit deal. How many rebel Tory MPs will buckle?"
Report mafeking December 2, 2018 2:39 AM GMT
but the local tory associations probably think she's even more deluded than her MPs. can't imagine your average tory member will be exactly thrilled with her deal
Report Baphornet December 2, 2018 3:00 AM GMT
mafeking; that's exactly my thoughts. It seems that everyone knows she's nuts but her. Or she's the greatest bluffer since Benyamine
Report A_T December 2, 2018 9:09 AM GMT
It's the latter. May knows exactly what she's doing.

May won the moment the "no confidence" vote fizzled out

The only realistic way forward is for a referendum with 3 choices

leave with no deal
leave with TM deal
stay in on current terms

will THE eu LET US STAY ON current terms ,the EU with an input into the question that will go down well
Report Jack Hacksaw December 2, 2018 12:55 PM GMT
We've already voted on leaving.

If we need another vote it should be

No Deal
or TM Deal.

maybe vote between a red white and blue brexit and brexit means brexit option

they can research that and get the russians to fund their campaigns

So stay in on current terms get 40%
Leave with no deal gets 30%
Leave with TM deal gets 30%

Does stay on current terms win with the highest proportion of votes ? Or does it not count as leave with some sort of deal wins with 60% of the vote ?

even talk of may delaying vote to go back to the EU, ONCE MAYS LIE, of this is the deal is exposed theres a table full of alternatives but like mays deal none of which are likely to get a majority in the commons, same as the Scottish reff or a 2nd reff no one answering questions like which currency.EU yes,no for scot after independence, yes /no questions in reffs are a complete waste of time
Report posy December 2, 2018 5:13 PM GMT
ufcdan I don't have a definitive answer however i'm setting out the realistic alternatives .In my opinion there should be a second preference vote and once the third of the alternatives is eliminated (by attracting the least votes) these should come into play.

No second referendum until after Brexit.

How can there be a second referendum before Brexit has been delivered?

That would make a mockery of the first.
Report A_T December 2, 2018 5:44 PM GMT
second referendum coming - in or out Cool
