Some while ago there was a thread about this. The car was parked on a slipway next to the river whilst Mum got out to do an errand. She returned to see no car and she called the Police. Her daughter was in the car.
The handbrake was not applied and the car rolled down the slope into the river.
What I dont's get is that Mum called Plod fearing a theft. She said ''I was gone for about three minutes. I went down to the river and couldn't see anything. 'I dialled 999 and told them my car had been taken with daughter inside. I looked everywhere. I phoned my mum as I was panicking.'
The police turned up and Pc Griffith saw the top of the car in the river, dived into the water and tried to rescue the girl.
So the PC saw it but not Mum?
No handbrake applied and contrary to her evidence, She did NOT leave it in reverse.
Verdict of misadventure which means no negligence involved.
