Lotto can now only rollover 5 times. The 5th rollover is a Must Be Won draw.

2018 changes
Wednesday 21 November 2018 brought significant changes.[26] Ever since the game's inception, all prizes levels from "match 4" and above varied depending on the number of winners at each level and on total ticket sales. From this date, each prize level is a fixed amount per winner, similar to the Thunderball draw. For the changes to be made possible, the Lotto raffle was discontinued. The ticket price of £2 and number pool (1–59) remain the same.

Rollovers are limited to five. If nobody matches all six main numbers after the fifth rollover, the jackpot is shared between every cash prize winner. This is called a "Jackpot Rolldown". Every cash prize therefore increases substantially.(estimated amounts shown in brackets).

Category    Odds 1 to x (per entry)    Avg. prize per winner
6 numbers    45,057,474    £12,800,000 (approx.)
5 numbers + bonus number    7,509,579    £1,000,000 (£1.2m)
5 numbers    144,415    £1,750 (£10,500)
4 numbers    2,180    £140 (£500)
3 numbers    96    £30 (£100)
2 numbers    10    £2 (Free lucky dip)
Total    9    £9

To say the lucky dip = £2 is very misleading if that's what they are saying? They get to keep a % of each ticket, the charities another, so its value is significantly less than that. For each ticket you buy only a % of it (albeit chunky) is in effect to your benefit.

Bought my last ticket tonight, I liked the raffles that went with it, 21 raffles there were, now they're are none.

So where does the money come frm, is the main jackpot now "whatever the total prize fund is minus the cost of the other winners"?

In some cases (common numbers are picked) it could get hammered, previously it was a %.

I hope grubby hands camelot aren't making more out of it...

Canadian pensioners need their pay rise.

I genuinely have bought my last ticket, not throwing strop and will be back really, I literally just have no more interest now.

Suppose they wont careGrin will imagine though - this will lead to ticket sales plunging further.

I think in the end they'd go back to £1 draws if things got too desperate.

It's not like the old days, nowaways there are so many lotteries, games and online gambling sites to spunk your money on, their compeition, much like black cab drivers, has increased ten fold.

Expect more and more gimmicky introductions to keep afloat in the future.
