I've wondered for some time, as to whether GPs get some sort of recognition, and reward, for prescribing drugs!

What has prompted me to ask the question, at this time, is that I take a whole cocktail of them, being eight per day!

Additionally, one doctor prescribed a moisturiser, which is very effective but, on a recent visit another doctor prescribed a different one!

I asked my best buddy, aka Google, and this is just the first result....

It's a long read, but certainly worth a skim, and the findings are scandalous!

Unfortunately I used some on my face, and had a bad reaction, and this morning it is bright red!

The practice site is down, so I can't check whether this one is additional, or in fact replaces it!

We've known this for a long time that doctors are cash motivated to prescribe drugs.

A friend of mine came out of hospital and had to visit her doctor, the doctor checked her blood pressure and told her it was high and she needed to go on tablets.
She told him ''no, I had my blood pressure taken three times a day during my stay in hospital and they told me it was okay.''

Such widespread drugs use can be partly put down to a system put in place by the previous Labour government in which doctors were given bonuses for prescribing medications. The move has left some elderly patients taking as many as 23 different tablets a day.

You should register that on the Yellow Card scheme.

As for drugs, I take 5 per day but it used to be more. When my blood pressure started getting back to normal I stopped one and it remained normal. Dr agreed to stop them too.

On another occasion I split a pill and it didn't have any adverse effect; it was increased (along with the other) due to high blood pressure, but again my Dr agreed and halved it.

After those two we are currently midway through a process of reducing a few others, although the one I don't want to change is my Ranitidine. Acid returns in an instant when I miss them.

I think people like taking tablets, it gives them a feeling of security.

They take statins thinking they won't get a heart attack or stroke, but they still do.
