You go to these places, you take your risks. We all know who live there. I remember a man getting done for drugs in Dubai Airport after 3 poppy seeds from a roll he'd been eating were found on his jumper.

If you go to these backwards places then be prepared to get done for nothing. And if you are a woman and r:ped you might even get done for adulterry.
|

Other recent ones that spring to mind are they guy who was accused of touching another mans bottom in a bar, and the woman done for "alcohol" as she'd had a drink PROVIDED TO HER ON THE PLANE FLYING HER THERE.
I've no inclination at all to go to places that have "laws" a stones throw from the middle ages. |

Always find it strange when the wife has a different surname to the hubbies. What's her background, born, work etc? The more I think about it I reckon she's a spy too..scarpered the country within 24 hours of hubby being sentenced, that's if they are married.

Been listening to this story today. The BBC coupled it with the woman in an Iranian jail.
My problem is that there's no discussion about the cvases involved, just the presumption of innocence. The UAE chap has probably been stitched up but who knows? There's no examination of the facts! As for the British/Iranian lady, we know she worked for the BBC at some point and that the BBEB are banned in Iran. I find the standard of journalism on these 2 cases appalling. |

If anything this guy is more "guilty" in that he was apparently going around asking people about defence related things that might well raise eyebrows, for "research" reasons.

We need to see UAE's definition of spying. Something the media don't seem interested in telling us.
|
|
By:
In some countries, if you were suspected of spying you wouldn't get as far as a trial

i wouldn't even go somewhere like dubai on holiday let alone engage in anything that could be misinterpreted as spying

"i wouldn't even go somewhere like dubai on holiday let alone engage in anything that could be misinterpreted as spying"
On reflection, and it's easy to look back with hindsight, but I would have said travelling to the UAE to study their internal security policy was probably NOT a good idea ! |

DONT THINK you,ll ever see him giving interviews new life far away in the sun courtesy of the security services

Home. He has a busy schedule lined up. For December he intends to criticise Putin before engaging on a month-long tour of Muscovite tea shops and then in January he's delivering etiquette lessons to some obscure tribe that has been rather rude to visitors. February will be his toughest month as he tries to teach a group of feminists how to cook and clean.

the student with no connections to the security services whilst locked up in a police state was sending coded messages in his interviews to prove he was speaking under duress, just ;like billy smith from Grimsby would have done FFS
