When you're an established star, you literally can put any old crap out and the loyal fans will buy it, hes had some rubbish albums sell well just because it says Elton John on the front cover.

So you don't get to meet him just stand beside his piano and get a photo taken?

An entrepeneur roadie could make a few quid selling that and a glass of prosecco for £30 a shot.

He's doing the John Lewis add this year. Rocket Man is certainly getting around.

My first concert, Whitesnake, Love Hunter Tour, 1979, Southampton Gaumont, Diamond Head as support, stalls ticket: £2.75. Things have deffo got out of hand & the lemming punters have caused it by paying these outrageous prices. Didn't have any of that ticket agent nonsense either, you applied by post or queued for them when they went on sale at the venue.

Yes McCoy I was looking at a concert recently and shocked by the prices. I ran the ticket prices I used to pay through an inflation calculator and it's not at all close, they have hugely went up vs "the old days". The concert also had these "VIP bundles" but it wouldn't even say what it was but I think you get a laminated pass. I'd maybe pay a fair bit more for a minute chatting to a band or something but ...

Are these prices evil? Yes they are.

'like fudge' a shocking omission

I read an article a while back about how hard it is for bands who haven't made it BIG to make decent money these days and it was depressing reading.
Obviously the bottom has fallen out of the CD market and they don't get much for downloads (and many expect everything to be for free on youtube etc now anyway). You look at the ticket prices they might be able to charge and then once everything like the venue and so on are subtracted they'd be better off working in the local chip shop.

(Won't affect Elton John. He's so rich he has wigs made from Unicorn Pubes).

If this is some kind of farewell tour, why doesn't he pay his fans back by not ripping them off and charging much reduced admission prices.

Cliff Richard is the same. He's been milking an army of women mostly now in their 60's/70's who follow him home and abroad every year, even on cruises. It's become a cult and for some of them it's their whole life. A woman I know has given the lowdown and it's amazing how much they spend in a year. Each year the prices go up and his recent UK tour the minimum ticket price was £70Sad

It's a strange one, I'm more of a rocker so you'd THINK I'd be a fan of the Rod, but I love the early Elton.

He's done a huge amount of forgetable stuff but I'd be happily buried to the majestic "Your Song" and would at the same time burn "Do You Think I'm Sexy" on a bonfire! Rod's best stuff was perhaps with the faces :)
