A good fast would improve everyones health. There would be plenty of horse meat available
|
|
By:
Depends on one's circumstance
I think single healthy males should be fine imo, they only have themselves to look out for and one mouth to feed so killing rabbits etc would easily be enough? Its families that would be in danger, more than mouth to feed and more people to protect |

Better to send the wimmin hunting, I know one or two who can kill with a look.

In round numbers for every 77 produced in the UK, 19 gets exported, and 42 gets imported.
So we end up with headlines like we are less than 60% self-sufficient in food, which is bollockios. Well assuming fungibility, which isn't guaranteed of course, we're about 77% self-sufficient, and can easily go higher if allowed to use GMO and having the economic incentives to put more land under polytunnels. I would quite look forward to eating horses again. There's a plaque at Bletchley Park which says the UK was 40% self-sufficient at the outbreak of World War 2. We got through that one eating more per person than we do today in terms of Calories. So to answer Callisto-Moon's question, we could but not really. Because tea and coffee and chocolate are fundamental for our life. And gambling. |

We could not survive without food unless we resort to cannibalism
![]() We could not in WW1 or WW2, a lot less people to feed then There are other countries outside the EU which grow food |
|
By:
the good side is obesity will disappear
will the police be looking for him? |

If we have to resort to canibalism I'm going to start wearing a big cone shaped straw hat and speaking in a funny accent like Peter Sellers.
Once people realise that you're never full after eating a chinese they'll be the safest people in the country ![]() |

We wouldn't starve for sure....might miss year round strawberries, grapes, oranges, and some other fruit, but will still have English apples,
pears and tomatoes when in season... I met a guy on the outskirts of Cottingham, Hull who has acres of green houses. He grows only tomatoes, for all of the supermarkets. Do such as Greggs have anything in their repertoire, such as Sausage Rolls, Cheese and Onion Pasties etc that rely on imports from Europe? As has been said, I don't think there will be much on the menus of Chinese and Indian that are reliant, and we have that good old staple of Fish & Chips! So Salami, German Sausages, some fruit and Vino could be affected...... I know we import a lot of eggs too |

In ww2 with a much smaller population we were putting allotments on cricket pitches etc..
Interesting read here: https://www.countryfile.com/news/can-the-uk-feed-itself-after-brexit/ |

Probably cutting calorie intake by 1/3 wouldn't do any harm to the population.

yes the diabetes related medication bill should come down nicely

That wouldn't work today and I would call anyone naive if they got involved with it! After all of your digging, weeding, planting and weeding. and weeding again, you are looking forward to the harvest only to go down one morning to find that gypsies, travelers, immigrants, and others got there first! |

I'm wondering how the EU are going to prevent us from importing food from the rest of the world. Sink ships bringing bananas into Portsmouth perhaps? Blockade the Atlantic ports? Perhaps they have already stepped up U-boat production in anticipation of a no deal Brexit.
|
|
By:
Nearly but not quite foinavon -
they are building invasion barges instead - the U boat story was to deflect you - what do you think herr barnerishtormsfuhrer's Eu army is all about and macron's creeping servility to the fourth reich. Has this happened before ho ho dissenters will not be tolerated |
|
By:
It would explain Mrs May's deference to the Barnstormer. I see that the leader of the fourth empire is going to step down soon, who will take her place, I wonder.

I'd imagine Bliar would prefer the top job when Juncker steps down next year.

It was never just us - re this. In ww1 for example, Germany suffered bad starvation as we clobbered their sea lanes, and they weren't self sufficient, I'm guessing the "we know ww1 history from black adder and our generals were posh so it was bad" types don't know that..
We are kind of mypopic about ww1, in some ways it was starvation that made germany truce for a couple decades .... (then screw the entire continent 3 years go.... :P) With fertiliser etc we can obviously (everyone) improve but also populations have grown. It is an interesting question. No way it was possible back then ... perhaps now it is with maxed out nitrogen in your face! |

the fuhrer is not stepping down anytime yet
