I was given a 5 blade job, absolute shyte. Gillette Sensor 3 Disposable are best for me. 8 Pack half price at Tesco, £5 until December. Cheaper than refills and they last a few goes.

Cheers saddo
Those 5 blades are a waste of effort, had to shave over the same area about 4 times ffs, and it was one of those roller ball one's which are the "creme de la creme of shavers" apparently, might as well use a butter knife. will give a gillete sensor 3 a go |

Been using the Gillette Fusion blades for years now buy them from Superdrug with the free razor works out cheaper getting 11 and a razor than buying 10.
What I do to prolong them is use an electric rechargeable first seems to save plenty over time given the cost of blades. |

Should add would recommend.

suppose its an individual thing
I find the 5 blades totally useless as I have really thick wiry horrible stuff If I leave it 2 weeks (im lazy as f*** lol) ive got a 45 minute job on in the bath ![]() |

I shave both my face and head, 3 times a week, and can comfortably do this on a single Wilkinson Sword Extra Precision 2 disposable razor for around 20-30p (each razor)… sorted!
|
|

My uncle use to do that aspro, he'd use one of the bic chuck always we had in the box in the bathroom
|
|
By:
Maybe its preparation, I notice a lot of jockeys will shave sitting in the sweat box? opens up the pores sitting in a sauna
|
|
By:
it's not so much about the razor, more about the preperation
washing your face beforehand with very warm water and then using a face wash to rid the face of dead skin and exccel oils so the razor can glide over the skin properly, and to open the pores making it easier to cut, and using shaving creams, preferably with a brush, rather than shaving gels or foams |
|
By:
Use a RazorPit with a dab of liquid soap on while shaving.
Tiny spray of alcohol afterwards Blades last 5-6 times longer, than they used to. (Blades do not go blunt. It is the build up of hair, grime, scum etc. on the edge that gives the impression of bluntness) |
|
By:
Aye scananavian
The foams are pointless imo might as well shave without it |
|
By:
foams will dry your skin more quickly than gels and creams, creams contain glycerine which prevents that, would not more than twice a week tbh, you'll feel the need to go over the same area if you shaving every other day or 3 days, leave it a bit longer and it's easier to cut. I've never used after shave balms either, always used moistourising creams after sich as nivea or cocoa butter, never had any rashes or burns with it, refreshing even.
|
|
By:
Aside from a few pits in my face, from adolescent acne, my face is reasonably normal and maintained. I seldom get spots, ingrowing hairs, rashes or the like and I use foam all the time. I'm currently using a gel, not because I want to, but because it was a Christmas present last year and I'm using it up before buying a foam again, however; I would swear that it doesn't make a blind bit of difference to my face what I use, so I stick with foam because it is considerably cheaper!

I do agree with you on leaving time between shaves Scandy. I find the cleanest, closest shave is every 3 days, especially on my head. The blade glides through it with ease.
|
|
By:
I don't shave every other day out of sheer laziness
, I usually shave every 10 to 14 days depending on when I can be bothered I like the feel of facial hair from days 7 to 12, it feels nice to touch personally, after 2 weeks it starts to get irritating as it leaves soap flakes in it etc ![]() Good advice from above though ![]() |

Essentially your shaving bare skin after a day so never understood the shaving daily rubbish, it just feel more abrasive that's all

"Essentially your shaving bare skin after a day so never understood the shaving daily rubbish, it just feel more abrasive that's all"
Bollox. Well it might be in your case but after a day I've a load of stubble. In fact if I shave early morning i've noticable darkening in the evening, if I'd a big night out where I want to look 9/10 for the ladies, I'd shave just before I went out to avoid it! |
|
By:
Think most ladies would prefer a little stubble JC
|
|
By:
I don't think I suit it. I look fine with a beard and fine clean shaven but the in between stage I look like I should be selling the big issue to fund my carlsberg special habit.

there's no excuse for facial hair imo, all beards look terrible, most grow big beads to make up for no head hair which I've noticed. Then they buy all the grooming stuff for it

I for one agree with you Scandy but the ladies appear to like a bit of facial hair from my experiences

had a few rough women types in your experience aspro?

Secret of a good shave? a friction massage ie rub your stubble up the wrong way before you shave it'll make stand up and easier to cut.

Been using the Gillette Fusion blades for years now buy them from Superdrug with the free razor works out cheaper getting 11 and a razor than buying 10. What I do to prolong them is use an electric rechargeable first seems to save plenty over time given the cost of blades. extend their life further by storing used/present blade in a small amount of baby oil (guessing culinary oils would also work) after each shave -- water shortens their useful life |
|
By:
I use cheap double blades for day to day and gilette 3 blade if I want a really close shave. They certainly are better than the 2 blades but I think anything above that is just diminishing returns and marketing.
My tip is to always make sure the bit between blades doesn't clog, it makes a huge difference if it is (badly) and it's easy to get clogged. |
