Paying people off to silence accusers is the preferred option of many even if they're innocent.
It's usually cheaper than going to court even if they know the case against them can't be proven. |
|
By:
It's the preferred option of rich men if they are guilty as well.

At least two people who signed the NDA's gave evidence to support Green at the injunction hearing against the Telegraph. This will muddy the waters.
|
|
By:
Hain has been foolish in naming him.
He's employed by the legal firm who's been advising the Telegraph who investigated Green. Using parliamentary privilege for such a thing smacks of opportunism. Everything should be handed to the Old Bill. Another trial by media of kiss and tell stories is pathetic. |
|
By:
Hain has got serious form himself if anyone cares to look.
|
|
By:
He robbed a bank didn't he ?
Or was that somehing to do with being framed by the South Africans in the apartheid days. I am aware of Hain's links with the Telegraph's lawyers which certainly means it would be better if somebody else had named him. Perhaps Theresa should as she did say the type of NDAs Green appears to have are unethical iho. |
|
By:
Are NDAs unethical for the giver AND receiver of the payment?
|
|
By:
If they're as big as rumoured I would say yes in principle, though we don't know the amount and type of pressure that can be applied.
|
|
By:
It's just that the sentiment is against the one wanting to pay for silence. The receiver I assume accepts the money for that silence so should face scrutiny too.
If threats are involved ('accept this payout or else...') then that changes the picture entirely. But then the police should be involved. |
|
By:
Tends to be a bit more subtle than that. Some of the actresses who signed NDAs with HW were worried about their future careers rather than being dumped in the river. We don't know at what level Green's accusers were working but presume they were management rather than shopgirls (
non-PC)and may have had similar concerns. I have some sympathy with your point though. |

Paying people off to silence accusers is the preferred option of many even if they're innocent.
It's usually cheaper than going to court costs already into millions, must be big |

More like less bad publicity if you are stupid enough to think an injunction will hold in this modern era.

Rumours from my mole in Arizona that SPG (as his staff refer to him) is recording a cover of The Clash cover of the She Trinity cover of the Bobby Fuller Four recording of I fought the Law, but changing it by one word to I fought the Law and the Law lost. This is going to be the classic confrontation of SPGs billions against the Law of the Land. Wonder what the odds are that the victor will be The Law of the Land sung by the Temptations!

I believe the man has form; selling a pension-deficit public limited company (plc) to a penniless individual with several bankruptcies to his name for £1 deserves scrutiny of the highest degree; accusers (not unknowns) were/are employees, I believe; integrity is more valuable than money in the business (asks Mr Fred Goodwin). There's no smoke without fire and I believe Lord Hain did the correct thing (not condoning it) nevertheless, on this instance was correct given an individual with a history of ruthlessness and riding roughshod over governance of a plc.
I hope one must have some sympathy and understanding for those who've accepted a payout; it could be their last pay cheque for a considerable while as life will not be straight forward and/or easy, I firmly believe. |

Storehouse was my initiation to the Stock Market, and managed to make a small bundle. Thank-goodness he was rebuffed by the board of M&S. Imagine him as head honcho of the backbone company of retail UK? No worries, karma usually would rear its ugly in the future where individuals with dubious characters are concerned, I believe.

cant see that 2 of those involved didn't want it out in the open ,is relevant ,you could have 2 people getting a nice wedge for been called fat against someone thinking of going to the police because they were paid to persuade them not to report a crime, fortunately fat shaming will be shortly a criminal offence so everyone will be happy,

Only banter yet paid out over 7 figures (reportedly) to accusers - how peculiar? If so innocuous as banter usually is why pay? See you in court would have been the more appropriate and proper response from a morally upright person, agree? Maybe he ought to challenge Lord Hain to repeat the accusation he made in the House Of Lords in public.

By:
If it was anything serious it was a matter for the courts
|
|
By:
It was already being dealt with by a high level of court which is why Hain going full attention seeking dickhead is so pathetic.
He thinks he knows better judges during an ongoing process. How very hash tag. |
