Regards the lawyer, I think we would need quite a bit more info before offering sensible advice. What happened exactly?

Good luck ad, work place's can be mighty difficult atmosphere wise after accidents.Get a third party in when talking to the company to take notes.
Report SlippyBlue October 25, 2018 8:06 PM BST
Firstly acey I'm very sorry to read that your wife has had a horrible accident and I hope she will heal very soon. I would be going down the route of legal representation personally and make sure you keep an accurate record of all correspondence and log everything. Ask her work colleagues to make statements saying what they saw so that it is set in stone and cannot be disputed by the owners/management. Sadly my experience of cases like this is met with dispute and a tissue of lies and not long ago one of my best friends daughter broke her arm and collar bone in a gymnastics class after school, she was 11 at the time and the gym (privately owned, the Mum pays a monthly subscription) have lied about absolutely everything about what happened to the girl to sustain such serious injuries. Good luck.
Report ufcdan October 25, 2018 9:56 PM BST
As flushgordon said is it in the accident book, is your partner in a union ? They will take up the case cost free on her behalf. Failing that yes get representation from an outside company. Do you really think the company will have your partner's interest at heart or damage limitation for them ?

Acey sounds to me as bad as it is ,your Mrs had a very Lucky escape ,People who are suddenly Engulfed in flames may Suffer stress going Forward ,this day and age this kind of thing should not be happening in the Work place ,The next person may not be so lucky ,HIT THEM and hit them hard Acey ,people are entitled to be safe in their Work place ,She also has witnesses Her work mates , If she attended hospital  make sure you know what was recorded if not a Trip to the Doctor may help As I said
your Mrs will have suffered a great shock .  All the best to you and the Mrs ..

If I were in your position i'd certainly go to a solicitor who specialises in h&s cases as however 'fair' the company want to be they will be heavily restricted as to what they can say or do by their insurance company whose aim will be to minimise any payout.
Report lfc1971 October 26, 2018 9:19 AM BST
Take the company for much as possible , don’t downplay anything as your wife might be inclined to do
Emphasise the effects of this which are considerable
Report impossible123 October 26, 2018 1:56 PM BST
Speedy recovery for your wife, I hope.

I think it is prudent to seek independent advice from the Citizens Advice Bureau prior to engaging a specialist solicitor for compensation.
