on Islay, wild goats, rams and deer ffs. I can understand that culling and land management is necessary but ***** like that who pay thousands to kill for "FUN" and then pose with their "kills" on Twitter and Facebook are not right in the head. And call me old fashioned, but women doing it makes it worse.

From that link Mac.

Mike Russell was responding to social media posts showing Larysa Switlyk hunting on the island of Islay
Ms Switlyk, who describes herself as a "hardcore huntress", hosts the Larysa Unleashed programme.

Mr Russell, who is the local MSP for the area, told BBC Scotland that the images were "horrific".
He said he had contacted Scotland's environment secretary, Roseanna Cunningham, to call for goat hunting to be "stopped immediately" on the island.

Several tourism companies offer the chance to stalk and shoot wild goats in Islay, Dumfries and Galloway and other parts of the UK.

I never knew that was allowed in Scotland.

Why is this kind of thing not illegal ? nobody would be posing with this pics anymore if they'd know they'd be arrested.

Seems to be an American obsession, all they know is guns, it's how they grow up and killing is normalised.

wild goats, rams and deer..how do they qualify as dangerous animals?????????????

Are they really a danger to the local inhabitants?

Well if they need culling it may be ok....as long as they shoot accurately, or have a marksman on hand to finish the job.

Culling is a necessary evil especially for Deer who suffer badly if too many in the area.
But I don't think it should be turned into a 'sporting' occasion and done for enjoyment.

HALAL killing?

Government won't challenge it because of RELIGION?

I think the animals should be killed first, then have their throats cut and hung up, surely does not make that much difference?

I see wee Jimmy krankie (Nicola Sturgeon) is looking at the culling of animals in Scotland after a female hunter posted pictures of herself for HER followers of likeminded people on Twitter only to be the source of outrage for the luvee liberals. If any of you find the killing of animals abhorrent then I hope you are at least vegetarian or vegan. Maybe how the animals are killed for the majority of you to eat should be posted especially Halal meat. And one more thing for consideration many spieces have to be culled like the wild goats in Scotland.  If you were a goat which would you prefer ? Trapped.....poisioned or walking along mind your own business BOOM dead !

Hunting generates about 185 million for the Scottish economy, can the rural parts of Scotland afford to lose that amount of money ?

Mind you now that Nicola is sticking her urban nose in the answer will probably be yes  given she wants to maintain trade with the EU 12 billion but separate from us and the 50 plus billion trade with the rest of the UK

Posted this elsewhere, what I will also add is I doubt very little of the animal as with the majority of animals that are hunted will go to waste.

Whetger a man or woman pulls the trigger it id only an EGO trip

The human has a high power and accurate rifle and is firing at a distance, with backup in case the animal survives the first shot

I think it would be more interesting if we give the human a spear and a shield, point out the Lion and say go and get itMischief

I don't think many cultures still use spears and shields tbh Gordon do they?

Still a very long time ago that was all any culture had

You certainly proved yourself a man if you killed a Lion....or got eaten!

Yeah totally barbaric unlike watching yer mate being shot with a bolt gun at point blank range and then step up, it's your turn. Unless any of you are vegetarian or vegan I have no interest in your viewpoint and even then I'm not that interested Mischief

You are missing the point Dan. Anybody that kills animals for "FUN" and posts pictures of themselves grinning with the poor beast is not right in the head, imo. People who work in slaughter houses (and I know a lot of them) kill animals with bolt guns, but the vast majority hate their jobs and take no pleasure from it. Big difference between killing animals in the wild to eat and survive and shooting animals for kicks.

It seems the photo is the bone of contention with most people which I can have some understanding. However the goat, deer etc was not left to rot after the photo shoot. I can pretty much guarantee that all the meat was used. Whilst I return all the fish I catch, the ones of merit are photographed. Is angling cruel ? I the amount of time I spend each year on the river with fellow club members working on the river. Most hunters put more into the care of wildlife than they take out.

Sturgeon will be sorry she got involved.
As Dan says this is worth £185m to the local communities and I think outlawing it will attract an angry response.
Fishing I think is different Dan as the fish are normally retuned alive to the water after weighing and photographing.

If animals are living wild in an enclosed area with no natural predators then if they breed too much they may well starve.

As you posted earlier akabula

A trained huntsman should do the culling as they know which to cull first, the old, sick, etc.

It is probably ok to sell this killing to raise money, as long as a trained huntsman is on hand to point out the targets and finish
the job if necessary. An animal must never be left wounded to suffer, it has to be tracked down and killed, a moral responsibility of the hunter.

If people think this a test of manhood or now womanhood? fine, although, with modern rifles it looks a lot like the slaughterhouse.
At least the animals get some sort of life before they are killed which is better than a lot of caged animals get so good

I suppose now women are hunting I should not have used the word huntsman, perhaps just hunter.

I don't believe in discrimination against women.
But I not like this world where  everything men do women must do as well.
It as if women don't trust men to be left on their own, so we me must always have a woman monitoring us.

It is hard for some of us oldies.Sad

I preferred separate roles for men and women, but I am becoming extinct like the Dinosaurs.

I hope women don't actually start shooting men, this is a first stepScared

One society gives women very little, the 'Muslims'

Well when I was younger we were not like them, in fact we have never been like them.

Manipulation is women's defence against men's superior physical strength, this is evolutionary.

But with our modern society, particularly with the modern media, is it giving women too much an advantage?
I do not know for certain, but I think we need to look at it. The motives of some women I believe is questionable?

Agree or disagree if you want only my own opinion.

I see society as men leading and women supporting, I am not sure too much competition
between the sexes benefits us...although we need a little.

I watched a Morse 30 years ago now, which raised this problem, the 'devil worshiping one',
it is still relevant today I think.

I am a cynic and laugh at this stuff and the stupidity of just about all of it.  One lot are slowly taking over in the uk and maybe in europe, whilst being defended from criticism by the 'progressives' in the interest of fair play etc etc.
But the 4 million have no intention of playing to our rules.  By the time it is realised what is going on they will have the demographic on their side and votes in cities will predominate.  They then set about new rules for you all.

ps liberal theory, practice  and womxn rights issues will be swept aside.  It has already happened in pockets around the country.

I see women are allowed to go front line with the SAS etc now...

I find it strange that just the other day we were discussing that in the area of sport women generally cannot compete with men for purely biological reasons, but in the deadliest sport of all, "combat", they are supposedly the same level?

I hope they aren't given preferential treatment in physical tests due to PC. If you are shot and need someone to carry you, you want someone who can do that task not someone given a pass to make up a gender diversity quota...
