Thing is if they know they've paid it out in error they will demand it back, creating more problems for people.

Is this due to confusion caused by claimants having multiple spouses ? Don't think the computer was set up with this in mind .

No it is backdated payments to Employment and Support Allowance claimants who were underpaid due to government errors.

This is the UK, only one spouse allowed. Why bother changing forms to ask this? Is it a way of getting bigamists to admit a crime or are we pandering to outsiders again?
