Which shows how much chance the plebs have got of beating cancer if the rich can't.

You cannot buy health with money, but you can suffer in comfort and beat the waiting lists.

They spend their health to get their wealth.
Then find that no amount of money can buy it back. |

He owned the Seattle Seahawks. Gave millions to good causes. |
|
By:
Mac - he also owned the Portland Trail Blazers and was part-owner of the Seattle Sounders.
I thought I heard talk of him being interested in a Premier League team. Possibly Chelsea. To say he gave millions to good causes is an understatement. I think it was around $2 billion. |
|
By:
Yes Nick, it was an understatement indeed, billions would be nearer the mark for sure.
I do recall reading about him possibly buying a Premier League club, but I can't remember which one. It may indeed have been Chelsea like you suggest. He seemed to have been a decent guy and one can't say that about many billionaires. He certainly left his mark on the world and will be remembered long after we have gone. |

I see Bill Gates comment "Personal computing would not have existed without him."
Perhaps in his grief at the loss of a friend, Paul Allen, he is forgetting the contribution of Gary Kildall to personal computing. Click here and scroll down to find a link to download the unpublished book written by Gary Kildall shortly before his death. http://www.computerhistory.org/atchm/in-his-own-words-gary-kildall/ |

the wealthy generally live a lot longer than the poor - just look at Glasgow's death rates in the poorer areas vs some poncey town in Bucks or Berks

We are all cremated equally. (wish I'd thought of that).
An old friend of mine has non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. It's incurable but can go into remission for a few years following chemotherapy. The condition damages the immune system leaving the sufferer vulnerable to potentially fatal infections. |

The Queen Mother was 101, the Queen is 92 and Prince Philip is 97. Nobody on either side of my family has reached such longevity in years and we are/were quite a big family.

If you're stinking rich you can make better choices for one Slippers ... live in a nice stress, crime free neighborhood , attract attractive women, afford private health care, have a sense of autonomy ....
you can live a great life with modest means too of course ...but money does seem to affect death rates more than anything else ,even gender . weird how women live a lot longer than men (in every single country on earth) ![]() |
