"...before the exams the teacher had left a personal message on each of our desks...  'if you think, think big; and if you thing big, think bigger'..."

At my school, you were lucky if the teacher knew your name.

At the time, I thought the teachers were pretty good but looking back, there was no inspiration or encouragement.

My local education authority abolished the grammar school system about two years before I started secondary school.

My school was an ex-grammar and I remember the headmaster emphasising this and telling us that most of the teachers had stayed on.

Maybe that was part of the problem. I can't help feeling that some of them regarded us as scum; and I was in the top stream so presumably would have qualified for a grammar school in any case.

'if you think, think big; and if you think big, think bigger'

Was the exam on Facebook memes?

It would have been more helpful to leave a note containing some of the answers rather than that tripe.

Good advice for when they will be working in McDonalds after they are finished their school years.

You can show them what to do Vicky.

I had some very good teachers and some mediocre. I wouldn't like to be a teacher now though.

All political correctness and a lack of discipline?

Maybe in a posh school, that would be nice.

Come into class and they are all standing on their desks "Oh Checking, My Checking".

it's not the teachers ,it's the sh1t they teach you  ...teachers can only work with the tools they're given

Using the phrase "posh school" would reveal you to be the pleb you are. You'd be calling them "sir".

I was a prefect at Dulwich College, I always called teachers "Sir". I don't think I'm a pleb though to be honest but I'm open to differing opinions about my status in life Laugh

As said, I went to a comprehensive but we had to address the teachers as "Sir" or "Miss".
